Walking on Sunshine By Emily Harvale

Walking on Sunshine By Emily Harvale

walking on sunshine

Walking on Sunshine. You simply need to take that step. Lucy Draycourt loves her job – or so she keeps telling everyone – but her friend, Beatrix Welsley says Lucy needs to ‘find herself’… so they’re going to Beatrix’s, Aunt Petunia’s wedding. Lucy can’t see how this will help, and besides, she doesn’t need to find herself. Just because she was given away at birth doesn’t mean she’s ‘lost’. Who cares that she was adopted? Her childhood was perfect so it doesn’t bother her. Or does it? Is her search for recognition really a search for something else? And is there any chance she’ll find it at Petunia Welsley’s wedding? Evan Foster needs a break.

He’s done nothing but work for several years and his life is frankly, a mess. The invitation to Uncle Bartram’s wedding has come at the perfect time. Or maybe not. Two years ago, Evan’s fiancée ran off with his business partner and it’s now abundantly clear that they’re not coming back. Evan needs to make plans for the future, but it’s difficult to move forward when you’re still living in the past. But as Petunia Welsley, the bride-to-be would say: ‘You can’t see the sun if you’re staring into clouds.

Sometimes all you need to do is take a step in a different direction and you’ll be walking on sunshine.’

My Thoughts:

I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book and I didn’t have to wait long. I have really enjoyed all of the hideaway down stories, you can read them as a standalone but for these I would recommend reading them all. This is book 3 in the series. I have fallen in love with some of the characters and they feel like my family. I love the title of the book as that is one of my favourite all time songs and the cover looks really summery. It is not a big book only 116 pages but it is a nice easy read and one that I had a good laugh too. I loved catching up with old and new friends and I look forward to returning to them hopefully soon.

Day after day, we make the same choices. But after reading ‘You. I. Us.’ you’ll ask yourself, “What if we didn’t?”

My Thoughts:

I was given a copy of this book for an honest review. After previously reading Annalisa’s books I was happy to be asked to review this one. I liked the style of writing and the fact that the book is made up of short stories. The cover I would have to say is very enchanting and I wasn’t too sure what I was going to get inside but I loved it. With this book I would definitely recommend savouring the words and it really makes you think about life. I don’t normally read short stories but I really enjoyed this one.

Follow Me Home By Cathy Woodman

Follow Me Home By Cathy Woodman

Life has been tough, lately, for Zara, a recently divorced country midwife. Now living with her grandmother, it is hardly the ideal situation in which to get her life back on track. And then one day, love walks in, in the form of an abandoned puppy.

From the start, Zara feels in over her head: she knows nothing about dogs, and has been afraid of them for most of her life. Yet she quickly comes to adore her new friend, despite the fact that the puppy causes havoc wherever they go. She is grateful when a local shepherd, Lewis, offers to help train her.

But Lewis has an ulterior motive for helping. And though Zara may be able to trust him with her naughty dog, can she trust him with her bruised heart?

My Thoughts:

I am a big fan of Cathy’s books, there is just something about them where you can escape from the everyday life. This is book 8 in the Taylton St George series. I loved this story, I did feel for Zara as she has a lot of things going on in her life but when Frosty comes in to her life well she makes it all seem ok. I love how there is alot going on but it doesn’t seem like it is. There is a bit of romance too for Zara which I think she deserves.

The Fire Child By S. K. Tremayne

The Fire Child By S. K. Tremayne

the fire child

When Rachel marries dark, handsome David, everything seems to fall into place. Swept from single life in London to the beautiful Carnhallow House in Cornwall, she gains wealth, love, and an affectionate stepson, Jamie.

But then Jamie’s behaviour changes, and Rachel’s perfect life begins to unravel. He makes disturbing predictions, claiming to be haunted by the spectre of his late mother – David’s previous wife. Is this Jamie’s way of punishing Rachel, or is he far more traumatized than she thought?

As Rachel starts digging into the past, she begins to grow suspicious of her husband. Why is he so reluctant to discuss Jamie’s outbursts? And what exactly happened to cause his ex-wife’s untimely death, less than two years ago? As summer slips away and December looms, Rachel begins to fear there might be truth in Jamie’s words:

‘You will be dead by Christmas.’

My Thoughts:

I have read S. K. Treymayne’s first book ‘The Ice Twins’ before and was looking forward to this one but I found it pretty creepy especially as it is the son that keeps telling his step mother different creepy things. I was too freaked out by it I couldn’t finish it. I have never had a book do that to me in the past. I may pick it up again at some point to see what happens but I definitely wont at the moment.

Sweet Temptation By Lucy Diamond

Sweet Temptation By Lucy Diamond

sweet temptation

Maddie’s getting it from all sides. Her bitchy new boss at the radio station humiliates her live on air about her figure, her glamour-puss mum keeps dropping not-so-subtle hints that Maddie should lose weight and her kids are embarrassed to be seen with her after the disastrous Mums’ race at their school sports day. Something’s got to change . . .

Maddie joins the local weight-watching group expecting more humiliation but instead finds two unlikely allies – bitter divorcee Lauren who, despite running a dating agency, has signed off romance for ever and shy Jess, the beautician, who’s desperate to fit into a size ten wedding dress for her Big Day.

My Thoughts:

I love all of Lucy Diamond’s books especially this one. I really felt for Maddie in the story I could see where she was coming from but I could understand that she wants to change.  The fact she has two new friends to help her along the way is so lovely. I absolutely loved this book.

The Beauty of the End By Debbie Howells

A secret she would never reveal

April Moon had loved Noah. She never wanted to hurt him. But there was something – and someone – dark in her life which made happiness together impossible.

A family she could never forgive

Ella is a troubled teenager with her own secrets to tell. But no one will listen. What Ella knows holds the key to finding the killer. But as Noah, April and Ella’s stories converge, shocking revelations come to the surface. The truth is obvious. Or so everyone believes . .

My Thoughts:

I have read Debbie Howells first book ‘The Bones of You’ and really enjoyed it so I was really looking forward to her second book. The story grabbed me from  the start and the whole way through the book I felt gripped, I managed to read it within a day and a half. I didn’t find it as fast paced as Debbie’s first book but I think it was very well plotted and had some really good descriptions. I couldn’t of guessed what was going to happen which is a must for me and there are twists and turns that will leave you saying oh my god!

The Little Bookshop of Lonely Hearts By Annie Darling

The Little Bookshop of Lonely Hearts By Annie Darling

the lonley bookshop

Once upon a time in a crumbling bookshop, Posy Morland hid in the pages of romantic novels.

So when Bookend’s eccentric owner, Lavinia, dies and leaves the shop to Posy, she must put down her books and join the real world. Because Posy hasn’t just inherited an ailing business, but also the attentions of Lavinia’s grandson, Sebastian, AKA The Rudest Man In London™.

Posy has six months to transform Bookends into the shop of her dreams but as Posy and her friends fight to save the bookshop, she’s drawn into a battle of wills with Sebastian, about whom she’s started to have some rather feverish fantasies…

My Thoughts:

I was given a copy of this book for an honest review. This is a new series of books by Annie Darling set in a bookshop. I thought I was going to really enjoy this book but I didn’t as much as I would of liked to. I found it quite heavy going and a bit predictable. Some parts of this book became quite repetitive which I didn’t like. It is a light hearted read.

She has no intention of swapping her perfectly lovely life for someone else’s idea of her Mr Perfect, but ten days under the Italian sun with her best friend and lashings of wine? How bad could that be?

My Thoughts:

I was given a copy of this book for an honest review. Lisa is a new author to me and I am not sure why I haven’t read any of her books before. This one had me in stitches straight away. It is a very entertaining and very interesting story that I just fell in love with. It is a light hearted romp with some very intriguing characters. One you just wont want to put down.

The Plumberry School of Comfort Food By Cathy Bramley

The Plumberry School of Comfort Food By Cathy Bramley

plumberry school of comfort food

Verity Bloom hasn’t been interested in cooking anything more complicated than the perfect fish finger sandwich, ever since she lost her best friend and baking companion two years ago.

But an opportunity to help a friend lands her right back in the heart of the kitchen. And with new friendships bubbling and a sprinkling of romance in the mix, Verity finally begins to feel like she’s home.

But when tragedy strikes at the very heart of the cookery school, can Verity find the magic ingredient for Plumberry while still writing her own recipe for happiness?

My Thoughts:

I really enjoyed reading this story, even though I had never met the characters before it did feel as if I knew them already. The cover of this book is really enticing and colourful and I wasn’t sure about the significance of the kingfisher but if you read this book you will find out. My heart went out to Verity and I can see what a lovely girl she is by what she had done for her best friend and how her life is now. The story was a bit emotional but there were also some laughs, I liked the sound of the two dachshunds Comfrey and Sage they sounded like little pickles. There are also some fantastic recipes at the end of this book for you to try out, I will definitely be making the mac n cheese as it is my favourite food.

Always With Love By Giovanna Fletcher

Always With Love By Giovanna Fletcher

always with love

Sophie’s got used to being the girlfriend of Billy Buskin, the biggest movie star in the world. Sort of.

But when she and Billy take a trip to visit his family in Los Angeles, she quickly discovers she’s totally unprepared for the chaos of Hollywood, the paparazzi and Billy’s controlling mother.

And when Billy extends his stay in LA, leaving Sophie to fly home to Rosefont Hill alone, it seems there’s more than just miles between them.

Now Sophie must decide if they can overcome their differences for good. Because not every love story lasts the distance . .

My Thoughts:

I loved this book, just as much as I loved Billy and Me which is the book before this. This book can be read as a standalone but I would recommend reading it as you get a background picture of all of the characters. I couldn’t wait to start this book and I found myself totally immersed in the story. This is a wonderfully romantic story and I hope this is not the last we hear of Sophie and Billy. I love Giovanna’s descriptions it really brings the book to life.
