Silent Water By Jan Ruth ( Book 3)

Silent Water By Jan Ruth ( Book 3)

The tragedy and comedy that is Jack’s life; a dangerous web of lies concludes a bitter-sweet end.
Jack Redman, estate agent to the Cheshire set and someone who’s broken all the rules. An unlikely hero or a misguided fool?

In this sequel to Dark Water, Jack and Anna must face the consequences of their actions. As the police close in and Patsy’s manipulative ways hamper the investigations, will Jack escape unscathed?

With her career in tatters and an uncertain future, Anna has serious decisions to make. Her silence could mean freedom for Jack, but an emotional prison for herself. Is remaining silent the ultimate test of faith, or is it end of the line for Jack and Anna?

My Thoughts:

I don’t think I have ever loved a series as much as I have loved this one. I really feel as though I know all the characters. This is the third book in the series and I strongly recommend reading the first two which are Wild Water and Dark Water. The scenery and settings that Jan describes are just beautiful you can almost imagine you are there. We come back to Jack’s story and whether Anna and himself are going to reveal their secret. The second book left us on a cliff hanger and now events have caught up with Jack and Anna. What is going to happen and how? I was blown away by how good this series was and I am really starting to miss reading about Jack’s story.

Dark Water By Jan Ruth (Book 2)

Dark Water By Jan Ruth (Book 2)

dark water

The tragedy and comedy that is Jack’s life; is there a future for him and Anna, or is the past too destructive?
Jack Redman, estate agent to the Cheshire set and skilled juggler of complex relationships. Someone to break all the rules, or an unlikely hero?
In this sequel to Wild Water Jack and Anna return to discover that history repeats itself. Anna’s long-awaited success as a serious artist is poised to happen, but her joy, along with her relationship with Jack, is threatened by old scores.

Simon Banks is a depressed and unstable man with a plan. He wants to wipe out his past by buying a brighter future, but Jack Redman stands in his way.
Will Jack ever escape the legacy of lies and deceit left by his ex-wife? Can Jack and Anna hold it all together, or will tragic repercussions from Jack’s past blow them apart forever?

My Thoughts:

You have to read the first book which is called Wild Water to understand and know the characters, I was so glad to read the next part of Jack’s story. I got a sense right from the start that things weren’t looking very good for Jack and his family, he is torn between Anna and his children but which will he choose. I still found Patsy horrible some of the things she does is awful. I was so intrigued by what would happen I read this book in a day. It was brilliant.

Orange Blossom Days By Patricia Scanlan

orange-b

This title will be released on March 9, 2017.

In a beautiful southern Spanish town, where the sea sparkles and orange blossoms scent the air, the gates of a brand new apartment complex, La Joya deAndalucía, glide open to welcome the new owners.
Anna and Austen MacDonald, an Irish couple, are preparing to enjoy their retirement to the full. But the demands of family cause problems they have never foreseen and shake their marriage to the core.

Sally-Ann Connolly Cooper, a feisty Texan mother of two young teenagers, is reeling from her husband’s infidelity. La Joya becomes a place of solace for Sally-Ann, in more ways than one.

Eduardo Sanchez, a haughty Madrileño, has set out with single-minded determination to become El Presidente of the complex’s management committee. But pride comes before a fall.

Jutta Sauer Perez, a sophisticated German who aspires to own her very own apartment in La Joya, works hard to reach her goal. Then the unthinkable happens.

As their lives entwine and friendships and enmities develop, it becomes apparent that La Joya is not quite the haven they all expect it to be…

My Thoughts:

I would like to say thank you to Lovereading for sending me this book. I had heard of Patricia Scanlan before but never read any of her books. There is alot going on in this book with each chapter as a different person or couple. There were some stories I wasn’t too keen on but I really enjoyed Anna and Austin’s story and Sally-Ann and Cal’s story. It was a bit of a shame too to see a few spelling mistakes in the story too. The cover looked amazing and I could really imagine myself there in the warmth of the sun.

The Day I Lost You By Fionnuala Kearney

The Day I Lost You By Fionnuala Kearney

the day i lost you

This title will be released on September 22, 2016.

THE DAY I LOST YOU WAS THE DAY I DISCOVERED I NEVER REALLY KNEW YOU

When Jess’s daughter, Anna, is reported lost in an avalanche, everything changes.

Jess’s first instinct is to protect Rose, Anna’s five-year-old daughter. But then she starts to uncover Anna’s other life – unearthing a secret that alters their whole world irrevocably . . .

THE DAY I LOST YOU WAS THE DAY YOU TORE OUR FAMILY APART.

My Thoughts:

Wow! what a page turner, I started to think as I was getting into this book that I knew what was coming and then bam!! something else happens instead that I least expected. The story is an emotional roller coaster where each chapter is spoken from Jess’ s side or Theo the local doctor’s side but also added to that is the blog that Jess’s daughter Anna wrote before she died. I wont tell you anymore as I don’t want to spoil it. I didn’t want to get off this roller coaster as I felt so involved with the characters. This is one book I will remember for a long time. Thank you to lovereading for sending me an advanced copy of this book.

The Secret Countess By Eva Ibbotson

The Secret Countess By Eva Ibbotson

When revolution tears Russia apart, Anna abandons her identity and homeland for a safe haven in England. She finds shelter there, working as a servant in an aristocratic household, her luxurious past now just a distant memory. Until she falls in love with the young Earl of Westerholme – and risks revealing her secret.

My Thoughts:

Thank you to lovereading for sending me this book, this is the second book of Eva Ibbotson’s I have read and enjoyed. The new covers I find are truly magical, especially this one. This story is set in 1919, and concentrates on Anna’s story who I absolutely loved, she is a real gem and such a lovely human being. There are some other very colourful characters from the aristocratic party guests to the other servants who work alongside Anna. A truly magical tale.

For a while, life is sweet; but then Matteo’s overbearing family get involved…

Anna’s younger sister Imogen feels like things are finally coming together – she’s living with boyfriend Finn in a beach house in Brighton, and her photography is taking off. Then her career stalls, and the lure of Capri – and a man from her past – prove difficult to resist.

Join Anna and Imogen and share a summer on the Amalfi Coast that you’ll never forget.

My Thoughts:

The heavenly Italian Ice Cream Shop follows on from Vivien’s Heavenly Ice Cream Shop which I would suggest reading before this one so you can familiarise yourself with all the wonderful characters. This is such a quick and easy read which I really enjoyed. I had to buy this book as I enjoyed the first one but also because I am a big fan of ice cream. I found it fascinating how Anna and Matteo decide to set up an ice cream shop in Italy, I loved all the flavours they were dishing out to the locals and the tourists. I really loved this follow up book and finding out what everyone had got up to. I look forward to Abby Clements next book very much.

The Girl On The Train By Paula Hawkins

The Girl On The Train By Paula Hawkins

Rachel catches the same commuter train every morning. She knows it will wait at the same signal each time, overlooking a row of back gardens. She’s even started to feel like she knows the people who live in one of the houses. ‘Jess and Jason’, she calls them. Their life – as she sees it – is perfect. If only Rachel could be that happy.
And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough.
Now everything’s changed. Now Rachel has a chance to become a part of the lives she’s only watched from afar.
Now they’ll see; she’s much more than just the girl on the train…

My Thoughts:

WOW!! what a book, I was lucky enough to get this book as a birthday present and I couldn’t wait to settle down with it as I have read so many reviews about it. I thoroughly enjoyed it and managed to read it in less than two days. I do love a  psychological thriller and this one did not disappoint it had everything you would want from a thriller. There were a few complex issues which I think Paula Hawkins has portrayed extremely well. Even though the book is set out with three of the characters Rachel, Megan and Anna, it is easy to understand and I literally couldn’t put the book down as I wanted to find out what was going to happen next. This is a book that will keep you guessing and there is a twist at the end that you won’t of seen coming till it hits you. A must read for this year.
