After You By Jojo Moyes

After You By Jojo Moyes

Lou Clark has lots of questions.
Like how it is she’s ended up working in an airport bar, spending every shift watching other people jet off to new places.
Or why the flat she’s owned for a year still doesn’t feel like home.
Whether her close-knit family can forgive her for what she did eighteen months ago.
And will she ever get over the love of her life.
What Lou does know for certain is that something has to change.

Then, one night, it does.
But does the stranger on her doorstep hold the answers Lou is searching for – or just more questions?
Close the door and life continues: simple, ordered, safe.
Open it and she risks everything.
But Lou once made a promise to live. And if she’s going to keep it, she has to invite them in . .

My Thoughts:

I had to get my hands on this book as I couldn’t get enough of Me Before You, this is the sequel to that one. I couldn’t wait to find out what had happened with Lou and this book certainly did not disappoint. Some times you read sequels and they just do not live up to what you were expecting or other times you are left feeling that the ending was a bit rubbish but not this book it had me hooked till the very last page. This book made me laugh out loud, it made me shed a few tears, the characters I loved and fell in love with especially Lou as I could see myself in her always helping people out and putting others before herself. Such a brilliant read and I am glad I can finally say I have read it and loved it.

Cape Cod Promises: Love on Rockwell Island By Bella Andre and Melissa Foster

Cape Cod Promises: Love on Rockwell Island By Bella Andre and Melissa Foster

Fall in love on Rockwell Island… Sink your toes into the sandy beaches at the heart of Cape Cod Bay, where family comes first, good friends are around every corner, and true love is waiting beneath the stars.

Trent Rockwell has it all—a thriving legal practice, coownership of the Rockwell Resort, and a big, loving family. And yet his failed marriage to Reese Nicholson has haunted him for ten long years. Now that he has moved back to Cape Cod Bay to help run his family’s resort, he is surrounded by memories of Reese…and he can’t stop longing for the woman he’d always believed was his one true love.

At nineteen, artist Reese Nicholson was swept off her feet by the handsome, charming, and incredibly sensual Trent Rockwell. After a whirlwind courtship, they married and moved to New York City, where they hoped all of their personal and professional dreams would come true. But six months later, Reese returned to Rockwell Island brokenhearted and disillusioned.

For a decade, Trent and Reese carefully kept their distance. But all it takes is one accidental late-night encounter to immediately stir the desires they have both tried to bury deep. Powerless to resist the heat between them, every passionate kiss, loving caress, and heartfelt apology draws them closer together. So close that they can’t help but wonder if the promises they once made to love each other forever are still true…

My Thoughts:

After reading the first book in the Love on Rockwell Island series, I was so looking forward to catching up with the characters and to see what was going to happen next. It was brilliant, in this story we get to find out about the characters Trent and Reese’s love story I loved it so much as it is so heart warming and managed to read it in a day it was that good. I think the cover looks very really great and I just wanted to dive in.

Ninety Days to Christmas (Goldebury Bay Book 3) By Emily Harvale

Ninety Days to Christmas (Goldebury Bay Book 3) By Emily Harvale

Poppy knows what she wants for Christmas.

Poppy Taylor is tired of playing gooseberry to her loved-up friends. She wants a man of her own to snuggle up with in time for the holidays – and Christmas Day is only ninety days away.

She’s set her sights firmly on the new man in town: property developer and all-round nice guy, Toby Blackwood. Poppy’s hoping it won’t just be the wood burner in her cottage keeping her warm as the cold, dark nights draw in…

But Toby’s obnoxious, older brother Ryan, a self-made millionaire, makes it abundantly clear that he has other plans for Toby and he’s not going to let Poppy get in his way.

My Thoughts:

I was lucky enough to get a signed copy of this book from Emily herself. I was so excited to start reading this one as I have read Emily’s previous books in this series. This book like all the others can be read as a standalone but I would recommend reading them all as they are all fantastic reads. I loved catching up with all the characters and seeing what happens next for them all. Even though Christmas is in the title of this book it is more of a lead up to Christmas so it is not focusing on Christmas. A lovely romantic book which I really enjoyed reading and I really look forward to reading the next book of Emily’s. You just know it is going to be good.

These are the other books in the Goldebury series:

BOOK ONE – Ninety Days of Summer

BOOK TWO – Ninety Steps to Summerhill

BOOK THREE – Ninety Days to Christmas

Paper Towns By John Green

Paper Towns By John Green

Who is the real Margo? Quentin Jacobsen has spent a lifetime loving the magnificently adventurous Margo Roth Spiegelman from afar. So when she cracks open a window and climbs into his life – dressed like a ninja and summoning him for an ingenious campaign of revenge – he follows.

After their all-nighter ends and a new day breaks, Q arrives at school to discover that Margo, always an enigma, has now become a mystery. She has disappeared. Q soon learns that there are clues in her disappearance . . . and they are for him. Trailing Margo’s disconnected path across the USA, the closer Q gets, the less sure he is of who he is looking for.

My Thoughts:

After reading The Fault in our Stars I really wanted to read more of John Green’s books. This wasn’t too bad but I think it is more of a teenager read than an adult. The story did sound very promising and I was expecting lots of laughs but half way through I became a little bored, I did read till the end and I did enjoy the first half of the book just not the ending. I will be intrigued to see how the film pans out. This book hasn’t put me off John Green’s books as I still want to read his other ones.

My Thoughts:

Thank you to lovereading for sending me this book. This is my last book by Eva Ibbotson that I am reviewing and I am kind of sad. I read this book in half a day and thoroughly enjoyed it. The story is written around The World War and it is a heart breaking love story, it is all about a girl called Ellen Carr who keeps on going even though the world is against her. I loved this book and Eva’s others so much and I am glad I had the opportunity to read some brilliant classics. I am going to treasure them forever and probably re-read them all soon.

The Reinvention of Mimi Finnegan By Whitney Dineen

The Reinvention of Mimi Finnegan By Whitney Dineen

Thirty-four year old, Mimi Finnegan is the third of four daughters and in her eyes, by far, the most unremarkable. She has no singular accomplishment that can stand up to any of her sisters. And if that isn’t enough, she is the only single sibling in her family.

Mimi’s sisters decide that it’s time she gets serious about husband hunting, so they begin a campaign to find Mr. Right for her. Considering her most recent dating encounters include a night club owner who stuffs bratwurst in his pants and a WASPy trust fund baby, living happily under his mother’s thumb, Mimi is more than ready to meet THE ONE. Enter celebrated British novelist Elliot Fielding.

Sexual tension and anger heat up between the duo and it isn’t until Mimi discovers that Elliot is almost engaged to another that she realizes she is head-over-heels in love with him.

The journey will make you laugh, cry and want to pull your hair out from frustration! Mimi eventually learns that she is quite remarkable in her own right and never needed to worry that she lived in her sister’s shadows.

The Reinvention of Mimi Finnegan is the perfect laugh-out-loud, feel good book for any woman who has ever felt that she wasn’t good enough.

My Thoughts:

I loved this story, it is such a feel good chick lit story that will leave you wanting more. I certainly will be looking out for more of Whitney Dineen’s books. A great story packed with some colourful characters that you will like. I liked how honest the book is and felt, there are twists and turns as you follow the character on her journey but also some very funny moments where I just could not stop laughing. There is something for everyone in this brilliant book.

My Thoughts:

Thank you lovereading for sending me this book. If your a fan of the ballet this is the book for you. The story is all about a young girl called Harriet Morton who loves ballet and she gets a chance to run away and join a ballet tour so she decides to leave her incredibly dull life. I think this book would be great for the younger girl and the cover looks lovely too.

My Thoughts:

Thank you to lovereading for sending me this book, this is my third book by Eva Ibbotson that I have read and this one is more of an enchanting love story. I managed to read this book in a day. Yes it was that good. There are a few likeable characters and a lovely hero called Guy Farne, there are funny moments but also a few teary moments. The way Eva adds so much description in to a place or scenery is just amazing as you really do feel like you are there.

Pothole and Belly-flops By Susie Flashmann Jarvis

Pothole and Belly-flops By Susie Flashmann Jarvis

Page Three model, serially unfaithful, heroin addict.
Loving mother, honourable wife, daughter of God.
Two lives. One woman. One God.

Susie was a rising star of the modelling world. Her image graced TV screens, billboards and magazine covers across the globe. But she was a private failure, addicted to Class A drugs and promiscuously jumping from one broken relationship to another. Then God…

A life transformed; a loving Father nurturing and disciplining a wilful, frightened daughter towards healing and reconciliation. A story of God invading the everyday joys and pains of family life. Once a body exposed to shame and lust. Now a life laid bare to tell of the Father’s love.

My Thoughts:

After reading Susie’s novel At Therapy’s End I was intrigued to read her autobiography. I loved the fact that Susie is so honest, a very powerful but yet humbling read, I cannot believe Susie went through all she went through and has come out the other side I haven’t known her long but she is such a lovely lady. This book is an honest account of Susie’s feelings and how God has helped her. Really enjoyed this book.

Her Hometown Redemption (Mills & Boon Superromance) (Templeton Cove stories book 5) By Rachel Brimble

Her Hometown Redemption (Mills & Boon Superromance) (Templeton Cove stories book 5) By Rachel Brimble

She’s back to right her wrongs

When Tanya Todd returns to Templeton Cove, she knows better than to expect a warm welcome. She burned a few bridges on her way out of town, and making amends won’t be easy. First on her list is the man whose heart she carelessly shattered, Liam Browne.

Seeing the successful criminal lawyer after all these years, Tanya is interested in more than just Liam’s forgiveness. As they work together to bring the man who hurt her sister to justice, the attraction between them sizzles. Suddenly Tanya’s second chance could include a future with Liam…if she can prove she’s changed.

My Thoughts:

Never having read any of Rachel Brimble’s books before I was not sure what to expect, this is the fifth book in the Templeton Cove series but you can read it as a standalone. I am definitely wanting to read the other books though as I want to find out all about their pasts as it would help me understand a few things in this book. I loved the way Rachel the author brings true life issues in to her book, she is so descriptive but on the other hand very sensitive and sympathetic. It is a slow paced book but I think you need that with some of the issues that are in it. I found this book utterly absorbing, one that will stay with me.
