This title will be released on May 4, 2017.

If you could turn back time, would you choose a different life?

Forty-something Maggie is facing some hard truths. Her only child has flown the nest for university and, without her daughter in the house, she’s realising her life, and her marriage to Dan, is more than a little stale.

When she spots an announcement on Facebook about a uni reunion, she can’t help wondering what happened to Jude Hanson. The same night Dan proposed, Jude asked Maggie to run away with him, and she starts to wonder how different her life might have been if she’d broken Dan’s heart and taken Jude up on his offer.

Wondering turns into fantasising, and then one morning fantasising turns into reality. Maggie wakes up and discovers she’s back in 1992 and twenty-one again. Is she brave enough to choose the future she really wants, and if she is, will the grass be any greener on the other side of the fence?

Two men. Two very different possible futures. But is there only once chance at happiness?

My Thoughts:

I was very happy to receive this new book by Fiona Harper, I have always enjoyed Fiona’s books so was excited to get her latest novel. The story is unlike anything I have ever read before and I think it really worked as it really makes you think what you would do in that situation. I know for a fact that I would always pick the life that I have with my husband and I would never change it for the world as I love him very much,  but Maggie has to decide what life she wants to live with and what man she wants and it is a hard decision for her.

Under the Cherry Tree By Lilac Mills

This title will be released on 31st May

“My dog didn’t like men. Actually that was a lie – she didn’t like the men I chose. The only ones who rocked her world had been my father (who was no longer with us), Ross (who was gay), and the butcher on the high street (for obvious reasons).”

When Jenni Meadows has the opportunity to expand her dog-grooming business she takes it, and when a nice man appears on her horizon but fails to make any sparks fly, she decides she has enough on her plate with her business without adding a boyfriend into the mix.

Besides, Millie doesn’t like him and when her dog doesn’t like a man, Jenni knows all about it. So why does Millie take a very strange liking to the new vet, especially since he has a taciturn expression, wears a wedding ring, and wields a needle?

Under the Cherry Tree is a tale of love and hope, waggy tails, and cold noses.

My Thoughts:

I was excited to get an advanced copy of this book as the cover looks really summery and pretty and it sounded like a perfect escape read. The characters are all brilliant and I particularly liked Jennie as she is a very determined woman who has set up her own dog grooming business. There is a hot male vet, dogs, love and hope in this wonderfully told tale and there maybe a few tears along the way.

When a ghost ship is spotted on the horizon one spring evening, bookseller Eleanor Mace decides to investigate the myths and legends of Combemouth, the Devon seaside town where she runs The Reading Room.

As Eleanor digs deeper into the town s history, she becomes intrigued by a Victorian crime report that seems to have unexpected links to the present day. A celebrity book launch, an exploding dress and some salsa-dancing pensioners make this a mystery with a difference.

My Thoughts:

After reading Jan’s previous novel A Summer of Surprises I was looking forward to catching up with Eleanor and finding out what is happening with her now. I loved getting back to the bookshop it is my favourite place and this one has a beautiful setting next to the sea what more could you want? The town’s people and the mystery really had me gripped and I couldn’t put it down. Another little treasure from a fabulously talented author.

If you could change the past, would you?

It is only after her mother’s death that Luna begins to discover her secrets.

While in New York to settle the estate, something impossible happens to Luna. She finds herself in 1977, face to face with her mother as a young woman, in the week that changed her life forever.

If time can be turned back, can it also be rewritten? Luna becomes convinced she can save her mother from the moment that will eventually drive her to suicide.

But in doing anything – everything – to save her mother’s life, will Luna have to sacrifice her own?

My Thoughts:

I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of this book. I have really enjoyed Rowan’s previous novels and couldn’t wait to start this one. It is a very different story to one I have read before but I was pulled in nether the less and couldn’t put it down. Luna can transport herself back to 1977. The story flits between the present and 1977. Luna wonders whether she can re write what happened to her mother back then, but can she?

Deposed By David Barbaree

This title will be released on May 4, 2017.

In a darkened cell, a brutally deposed dictator lies crippled – deprived of his power, his freedom – and his eyes.

On the edge of utter despair, his only companion is the young boy who brings him his meagre rations, a mere child who fears his own shadow. But to one who has held and lost the highest power, one thing alone is crystal clear: even emperors were mere children once.

Ten years later, the new ruler’s son watches uneasily over his father’s empire. Wherever he looks rebellion is festering, and those closest to him have turned traitor once before.

To this city in crisis comes a hugely wealthy senator from the very edge of the empire, a young and angry ward at his heels. He is witty but inscrutable, generous with his time and money to a leader in desperate need of a friend – and he wears a bandage over his blinded eyes.

The fallen emperor’s name is Nero.

But this isn’t his story.

My Thoughts:

I was given an advanced reading copy of this book for an honest review. I read the blurb and liked the sound of it, it was something a bit different from what I would normally read so I thought I would give it a go. I did find pronouncing some of the names hard but in the end I just made up my own names for them and it worked. I found the story a amazing recreation of Ancient Rome and what happened in that era utterly fascinating. I can’t believe that this is David’s first book as I found it brilliant. An author to look out for.

Happy Mum, Happy Baby By Giovanna Fletcher

Happy Mum, Happy Baby By Giovanna Fletcher

gi fletcher

Being a mum is an incredible journey, a remarkable experience that changes how we look, how we feel, who we are. As mothers we are strong, protective, proud. We feel a love like no other.

But being a parent can be hard too. It challenges us physically, mentally, emotionally. There are the days where just managing to fit a shower in amidst the endless feeding, entertaining young children and surviving on a lack of sleep feels like an achievement. With so many people ready to offer ‘advice’ on the best way to parent, it can feel like you are getting it all wrong.

Since Giovanna and her husband Tom Fletcher have had their sons Buzz and Buddy, they have been sharing glimpses of their family life. With an infectiously positive outlook and happy take on all things mum-related, Giovanna has developed a following of fellow parents and mums-to-be.

This is not a book about how to have the perfect family experience – Gi would be the first to admit she is winging it just as much as the rest of us – instead it is an honest, upbeat and incredibly personal account of her own experience of having a family. In Happy Mum, Happy Baby Giovanna shares her own journey through parenthood and in doing so, she looks at what it is to be a mother today, encourages you to be confident in yourself as a parent and celebrates how putting a focus on being a happy and confident mum can really make for a happy baby.

My Thoughts:

I jumped at the chance of reading this book. I am not a mother but hopefully one day I will be, I thought this book was a lovely, honest account of what mothers  go through with their children. I love following Giovanna and Tom on facebook and I get to see what they and their kids Buzz and Buddy get up to which is really nice. One of the most important things I have learnt from this book is that mums are not alone and that they should support each other where possible.  I love the pictures of the family inside the cover they are beautiful.

Carrie Dashwood fled Dorset ten years ago when her best friend Megan stole her love, local heart-throb Tom. Now she’s back to help run her aunt Ruby’s flower stall in idyllic Shipley.

Trying to persuade herself that her feelings for Tom are in the past, Carrie plans to avoid him and Megan completely. But it’s not to be, because Ruby’s Blooms are arranging the flowers for Megan and Tom’s wedding.

Soon Carrie’s crawling under the stall to hide and accidentally inventing an imaginary boyfriend… But with the stall’s finances in jeopardy and Ruby needing her niece more than ever, Carrie has to keep her emotions in check.

With bouquets to arrange, family secrets to uncover, and Tom unavoidably a part of her life again, can Carrie keep her cool, save the stall, and find her very own happy ever after?

My Thoughts:

I was happy to receive an advanced reading copy of this book as I really had enjoyed Karen’s previous novel The Beachside Sweet shop. The cover looks so pretty and inviting and I couldn’t wait to get stuck in. I loved the story and I liked it that it kept on referring back to the sweet shop as the flower stall is in the same town square as the sweet shop. I love the fact that it is a romantic comedy as you certainly get the romance and there is quite a few laughs to be had reading this book. I particularly found myself warming to Carrie as she reminded me a bit of myself in certain ways. I cannot wait for the next book, I am sure it is going to be as good as this one.

Ahead of the paperback copy of this books release I was asked if I would like to be involved in a paper chain of  thanks which means that I can give away a copy of the book to someone and explain my reasons why. I could choose anyone including my lovely readers, friends, family members or run a competition. Well I decided that I am giving my copy away to my beautiful mum, she has always been there for me through thick and thin. Even when I made bad decisions in my life she still stood by me and looked after me when I was really poorly. She has been my rock and I will never forget all of the things she has done for me. She is very special to me and she really deserves to read this book and have a little me time. She is an amazing. I love you mum. You rock!!

My Thoughts:

The cover of this book is so pretty it makes me think of the summer straight away. I loved the story and I loved all the characters. In some parts I really felt for Christie and her son and really wanted to help her or give her a big hug and say that everything would be ok. I found the storyline about crafting quite mesmerising and it has spurred me on to do a little bit of crafting, which I am really looking forward to. I didn’t want it to end and I thought it was superbly written.

My Thoughts:

I was given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I have read Coral’s previous novels in this series so was happy to find out I would be reading book 3 for her. I would suggest reading the other two books first so you get a sense of the characters and find out a bit more information about their backgrounds. I couldn’t put this book down, I wanted to find out what happens next and it certainly did not disappoint. I hope Coral has many more books to come as she is such a brilliant writer.

The Little Teashop of Lost and Found By Trisha Ashley

The Little Teashop of Lost and Found By Trisha Ashley

trisha ashley

Alice Rose is a foundling, discovered on the Yorkshire moors above Haworth as a baby. Adopted but then later rejected again by a horrid step-mother, Alice struggles to find a place where she belongs. Only baking – the scent of cinnamon and citrus and the feel of butter and flour between her fingers – brings a comforting sense of home.

So it seems natural that when she finally decides to return to Haworth, Alice turns to baking again, taking over a run-down little teashop and working to set up an afternoon tea emporium.

Luckily she soon makes friends, including a Grecian god-like neighbour, who help her both set up home and try to solve the mystery of who she is. There are one or two last twists in the dark fairytale of Alice’s life to come . . . but can she find her happily ever after?

My Thoughts:

I have a collection of Trisha’s books and I totally adore them. This book I found very intriguing and very captivating which Trisha’s books normally are. The story is full of mystery, friendship, hope and there is romance added in to to make it a beautifully told tale. I loved the idea of a teashop with a bit of a difference I would of certainly gone there. There are also some lovely recipes at the back that are featured in the story. I loved it.
