Jess Castle is running away. Again. This time she’s running back home, like she swore she never would.

Castle Kidbury, like all small towns, hums with gossip but now it’s plagued with murder of the most gruesome kind. Jess instinctively believes that the hippyish cult camped out on the edge of town are not responsible for the spate of crucifixions that blights the pretty landscape. Her father, a respected judge, despairs of Jess as she infiltrates the cult and manages, not for the first time, to get herself arrested.

Rupert Lawson, a schooldays crush who’s now a barrister, bails her out. Jess ropes in a reluctant Rupert as she gatecrashes the murder investigation of DS Eden. A by-the-book copper, Eden has to admit that intuitive, eccentric Jess has the nose of a detective.

As the gory murders pile up, there’s nothing to connect the victims. And yet, the clues are there if you look hard enough.

My Thoughts:

If you like a fast paced story that has humour added in then this is the book for you. The plot is mysterious and the characters are all interesting and quirky. The book centres on Jess who returns to her home town after a mishap and she gets herself caught up in all sorts. There are lots of clues along the way and red herrings and the ending was fantastic.

My Thoughts:

Such a lovely read and I am so glad I have read it. I really liked Annie and her little daughter Dot, the story line is one that I think people could relate to. I found it humorous and witty and you can tell Annie is trying to rediscover herself and wants to rebuild her life. A really good read.

My Thoughts:

I found this book quite unsettling and creepy. How the story unfolds you think one thing but actually it is a completely different ball game. I was drawn in and couldn’t stop thinking about how and why and then the ending was almighty.

My Thoughts:

This book is all about the human body and the relationship you have with it. It is definitely a book i haven’t ever read before. There are some quite amusing diagrams and pictures so your in for a laugh too. An interesting read.

What a little cracker of a read. The cover certainly lives up to what happens in the book. It is a nice light hearted read that follows Dora through her and her family life. I laughed so much and I love how it is such a believable story.

My Thoughts:

I enjoyed the first book and loved how Nora grew. This story didn’t seem to have as much action as the first book but it was still an enjoyable read. You definitely have to read the first book to understand the characters and to make complete sense of what is going on. This is a thriller with lots of memorable characters and a dog called Whisper.

My Thoughts:

After reading the first two books I was excited to read this one which is the last book in the drumbeats trilogy, whilst I was sad to finish the trilogy I still couldn’t wait to get stuck in and catch up with Jess. I think the personal issues are dealt with sensitively and I found it quite sad what Jess has to go through. A powerful story.

My Thoughts:

I just want to say how brilliant the cover of this book looks, the smudges of chalk really add to the atmosphere of the book. I was surprised this was a debut novel as it is really good. It is tense and creepy and you feel as though you are being watched by a chalk man reading it. A chilling read.

I have never read any books by this author before and the plot looked interesting so I thought I would give it a go and I am really glad I did. It has suspense through out so you never really know what will happen between the pages. I found it gripping and a real compulsive read. Now I really want to read more of this author’s books.

My Thoughts:

I am a big fan of Cathy Glass books. They never fail to disappoint and bring a tear to my eye. This story we find out about Melody and what her and her mum have been through. There is more to the story than meets the eye and Cathy as she does best looks after Melody and its nice to see their relationship develop. Already looking forward to the next one.
