Life isn’t all love and cupcakes …
Katie has had her fair share of bad luck, but when she finally realises her dream of opening a bakery it seems things can only get better.
But the reality of running a business hits Katie hard and whilst her partner, Steve, tries to help she can’t help but feel that the situation is driving them further apart. Could Katie be set to lose her relationship and her dream job?
Then, one winter’s day, a man walks into her shop – and, in the space of that moment, the course of Katie’s life is changed.
But nobody finds happiness in the blink of an eye. Sometimes it takes two Christmases, three birthdays and a whole lot of cake to get there.

My Thoughts:

I was given this book for an honest review. I loved it. It had everything I ask for in a book, great storyline, interesting characters and baking. I really felt for Katie the main character to start with but then things look up for her and I had my fingers crossed that something good would happen to her. I thought this book was fabulous, but do not read on an empty stomach as you will get very hungry with all the talk about cakes.

At Therapy’s End By Susie Flashmann Jarvis

At Therapy’s End By Susie Flashmann Jarvis

As Alfie’s first birthday draws near, his mother, Sophie, and her family are forced to confront a past they have been trying to shut away for years. Revisiting painful memories, grief threatens to destroy relationships as Sophie and her daughter, Katie, wrestle with guilt, and Simon, their loving husband and father, can only look on in despair.

Grief’s shadow threatens to overwhelm them all, and Sophie finds herself face to face with her abusive childhood. Will they be able to find a way through their heartache to a place of healing and peace? What will they find at therapy’s end?

My Thoughts:

I was lucky enough to get a copy from Susie herself and I really appreciate it. Wow!! where do I begin, this is such a heartbreaking and honest book that deals with real life problems. Even though I am yet to be a mother I could understand how heart breaking it must be to have lost a child. Susie has written this book so well with such emotion that you will have a tear in your eye. It is unfortunately something some of us have been through or know someone who has been through it. It has made me open my eyes and think about life in general. This is a story that will definitely stay with me. I love the way how the book was set out with mum, dad and daughter speaking about what had happened and how they were coming to terms with it. There are a few twists along the way that I didn’t expect. This book certainly shows how one tragedy can unite a family. Brilliantly written.

Safe Haven By Nicholas Sparks

Safe Haven By Nicholas Sparks

Love hurts. There is nothing as painful as heartbreak. But in order to learn to love again you must learn to trust again.
When a mysterious young woman named Katie appears in the small town of Southport, her sudden arrival raises questions about her past. Beautiful yet unassuming, Katie is determined to avoid forming personal ties until a series of events draws her into two reluctant relationships.
Despite her reservations, Katie slowly begins to let down her guard, putting down roots in the close-knit community. But even as Katie starts to fall in love, she struggles with the dark secret that still haunts her . . .

My Thoughts:

I really love Nicholas Sparks books, bearing in mind I have only read two of them, I just can’t get enough of them. I loved The Longest Ride which is his latest book but this book was brilliant too. Even though this book goes from the past to the present it is easy to keep up with it, there is a relaxed nature to reading one of Nicholas’s books. I loved the story and there is a lovely added twist at the end which will put a smile on your face. This is a bittersweet love story so grab a tissue and curl up you are in for a treat. I look forward to my next Nicholas Sparks book.

More Than Enough By Liza Hoeksma

More Than Enough By Liza Hoeksma

When does a friendship become an affair?

Katie is pregnant. Again. She loves being a mum but having three kids under the age of three may be more than she can handle. Thankfully her marriage is solid enough to withstand the blast. Or is it? With husband Anthony working long hours and Katie fearful of letting him see she’s struggling to cope, could someone else become a shoulder to cry on? What line does a seemingly innocent friendship have to cross to jeopardise a family’s future?

Meanwhile Katie’s sister Amy has problems of her own. Her 20s are fast disappearing with no sign of romance when along comes Charlie, an up and coming actor. Amy is smitten by Charlie (not to mention the world of celebrity he draws her into) and he seems to be falling head over heels too. But as Charlie’s star rises their relationship begins to change and Amy must work out if they want the same things. Will Charlie prove to be her perfect match?

My Thoughts:

I was given a copy of this book from Liza for an honest review. This is a truly fantastic read, it captures you right away, once I started it, I found it hard to put down.  It is all about katie’s story, you will find romance, relationships and motherhood in this story. I love the fact that the characters are so down to earth and I am sure many women can relate to Katie and Amy, I felt like I really wanted to know what was going to happen next. A brilliantly easy read.

The Curvy Girls Club BY Michelle Gorman

The Curvy Girls Club BY Michelle Gorman

This book is released on 15th January 2015.

Can the curvy girls have their cake and eat it?

Meet best friends Pixie, Ellie, Katie and Jane. Fed up with always struggling to lose weight, they start a social club where size doesn’t matter. Soon it’s the most popular place to be – having fun instead of counting carbs. And the girls suddenly find their lives changing in ways they never imagined.

But outside the club, things aren’t as rosy, as they struggle with the ups and downs of everyday life.

In this funny, heart-warming read about normal women learning to love themselves, the curvy girls soon realise that no matter what life throws at them, together, anything is possible . . .

My Thoughts:

This is a truly wonderful story about four friends who after not being able to lose weight at a slimming club decide to form their own club. All the girls have their different stories, but with the help and support from their friends they pull together and help each other out. There is a bit of emotion in this book, but there is also quite a lot of laughter. I love the fact Michelle writes about normal women with normal problems as you don’t see that often enough and the constant battle women have with their weight. I will be reading more of Michelle’s books, as I just loved this one so much.
