All The Twats I Met Along The Way By Carolyn Hobdey

All The Twats I Met Along The Way By Carolyn Hobdey

“All The Twats I Met Along The Way is Carolyn Hobdey’s story that a million and one women are going to resonate with, laugh along with, sigh and cry with. It’s a story of growing up, moving on, falling down and getting back up again. Transformation and acceptance, strength and resilience.”

My Thoughts:

As I started reading this book, I was curious to find out what Twats she was actually talking about, as you get more into the book you realise that there are many Twats she meets along the way. I really felt as though I could relate to this book, it feels refreshing for women to talk about their problems especially when it is regards to their health. I sympathise with all the medical side of things as I have been there before many times. I wasn’t sure if I would get or even like this book, but it really is an eye opener into many different things. I like the fact that she has opened up about good things but also bad things, there is lots going on but it just makes you want to read quicker. This is also the first book in the trilogy so it will be great to see what she gets up to next. This book really stands out to me.

Shiver By Allie Reynolds

Shiver By Allie Reynolds

When Milla is invited to a reunion in the French Alps resort that saw the peak of her snowboarding career, she drops everything to go. While she would rather forget the events of that winter, the invitation comes from Curtis, the one person she can’t seem to let go.

The five friends haven’t seen each other for ten years, since the disappearance of the beautiful and enigmatic Saskia. But when an icebreaker game turns menacing, they realise they don’t know who has really gathered them there and how far they will go to find the truth.

In a deserted lodge high up a mountain, the secrets of the past are about to come to light.

My Thoughts:

This is a story of five competitive snowboarders who get stranded on top of a mountain, there are lies, betrayals and secrets and someone out for revenge, but who is guilty? You have the added bonus of learning about the world of competitive snowboarding which I liked and found interesting, I have tried snowboarding in the past and liked it. The book is full of suspense and suspicion, you never really know who is telling the truth or not. It felt claustrophobic and intense up there and I am in doubt that it would of been. I have been reading about the author Allie and have learnt that she use to compete as a snowboarder and also has spent quite a few winters in different places that has mountains. I always love the fact that the authors have actually spent time doing things that are written into their books, it makes it feel more special, they are speaking from experiences.

Girl A By Abigail Dean

Girl A By Abigail Dean

‘Girl A,’ she said. ‘The girl who escaped. If anyone was going to make it, it was going to be you.’

Lex Gracie doesn’t want to think about her family. She doesn’t want to think about growing up in her parents’ House of Horrors. And she doesn’t want to think about her identity as Girl A: the girl who escaped. When her mother dies in prison and leaves Lex and her siblings the family home, she can’t run from her past any longer. Together with her sister, Evie, Lex intends to turn the House of Horrors into a force for good. But first she must come to terms with her six siblings – and with the childhood they shared.

My Thoughts:

Tissues are a must with this read, I literally felt heartbroken to discover what these poor children had gone through. I like how the book is written, before and now, it gives a really good background in what happened before and how Lex is now. It is a very powerful read of love and horror that I will never be able to forget, you never know if a child right now is suffering like these children had to. You can never imagine what they went through, and you probably wouldn’t want to but seeing the woman Lex is today makes me proud of her and what she has gone through. The fact that this book is a debut is incredible, I cannot wait for Abigail the author’s next book. A book has never hot me so hard and it will stay with me for a long time.

Rescue Me By Sarra Manning

Rescue Me By Sarra Manning

Margot doesn’t have time for love.

Will is afraid to love.

And neither of them are expecting to fall in love with Blossom: a gentle Staffy with a tragic past, a belly made for rubbing and a head the size of a football.

After their first meeting at the rescue centre, both Margot and Will want to adopt Blossom so reluctantly agree to share custody. But Will’s obsession for micro-managing and clear-cut boundaries and Margot’s need to smother Blossom with affection, means that soon they have a very confused and badly behaved dog on their hands.

Can they put their differences aside to become successful “co-pawrents” and maybe even friends? And meanwhile, does Blossom have plans of her own?

My Thoughts:

I thoroughly enjoyed this uplifting and warm read. Any books that involve animals is right up my street. There happens to be a lovely dog called Blossom who is looking for a new home who has not had the best start in life, this tugged on my heart strings. When Will and Margot both need something to love and chance upon the same dog in the rescue center that they warm to, they both want her and Blossom can’t believe her luck. Will Blossom get what she has always wanted or will “co Pawrenting” be an absolute disaster. A funny and uplifting story that will definitely pull on the old heart strings.

The Island By C. L. Taylor

Welcome to The Island.

Where your worst fears are about to come true…

It was supposed to be the perfect holiday: a week-long trip for six teenage friends on a remote tropical island.

But when their guide dies of a stroke leaving them stranded, the trip of a lifetime turns into a nightmare.

Because someone on the island knows each of the group’s worst fears. And one by one, they’re becoming a reality.

Seven days in paradise. A deadly secret.

Who will make it off the island alive?

My Thoughts:

OMG!! You are in for a real treat with this book, it gave me the chills reading it and it made me feel freaked out with what was going to happen. It is about a bunch of teenagers that go on holiday to a remote island. Things start going wrong quickly but why? and is there anyone else on the island? The story is fast paced we learn a little about each of the teenagers but which one has something to hide? I really liked this story a great deal it really kept me hooked till the end. It was captivating and tense, you could almost feel what the teenagers are experiencing, it was so good I didn’t want it to end. The ending was superb but you can always expect that with Cally’s writing. This must be my favourite one of her books yet, it will be hard to top it.

The Other You By J. S. Monroe

The Other You By J. S. Monroe

He looks the same. He looks like a stranger.

Super recognisers are born with the ability to remember a face forever, even from a single glance. Kate was one of them. She worked for the police, using her gift to spot criminals and save lives. Then came the accident.

Deprived of her abilities after a devastating car crash, Kate found refuge in a new relationship. She met Rob in hospital, and he nursed her back to health in his beautiful house in Cornwall. But now something feels horribly wrong. Rob looks the same, but Kate feels certain: the man she fell in love with has been replaced by an impostor.

Is this the paranoia of a damaged mind? Or is it Kate’s old instinct, screaming one last warning?

My Thoughts:

A very interesting and unique storyline involving super recognisers who are much better at identifying a face than computers. It is quite a sinister story that started off for me a little slow but gradually got better, I couldn’t work out if Kate was still suffering from a brain injury or if something else was going on so that kept me wondering. I felt as though the word super recogniser was used a bit too much and the ending was not what I was expecting either.

The Island By Ben McPherson

The Island By Ben McPherson

A shocking act of violence…
It should have been the safest place on earth. A summer camp for teens, on a beautiful island off the coast of Oslo. But what started out as a haven becomes hell on earth as two men start shooting.

A family torn apart…
With Norway in shock, the families gather, desperately hoping their children have survived. Some have their prayers answered. Some must confront their worst nightmare. But for one family, this is just the beginning…

A daughter gone missing…
Cal and Elsa’s daughter Licia was on the island that day. But the police can find no trace of her – dead or alive. Stuck in limbo, Cal and Elsa delve into their daughter’s life. The secrets they uncover are shocking. But they still don’t know – did Licia survive the shooting? Or is she gone forever?

My Thoughts:

I thought this was going to be like some of the other books I have read called The Island but it was strangely different, a husband and wife who have three kids, they hear there has been an explosion in town and that the Summer camp where their kids are has had gunman invade it, one of his daughters was on that island but where is she now? Will the family find the answers they are looking for? It was a good plot line but for me it was a bit too slow, I felt as though the story was not really going anywhere and I didn’t feel I connected with any of the characters, but that is my opinions I am sure other people will like it. There were bits of the book that I found good though.

The Captive By Deborah O’Connor

The Captive By Deborah O’Connor

Hannah knows the cage intimately. Small, the size of a shopping centre parking space. A bed, a basin, a table and chair. A hatch and metal drawer through which to exchange food and other items.

Then there’s him. Always there on the edges of her vision, no matter how hard she tries to block him out.

Every day, the same thoughts run through Hannah’s mind:

What if he speaks to me?
What if he hurts me?
What if he gets out?

My Thoughts:

A very unique story line where criminals rather than going into a prison they are housed in the victims whoever they have wronged home and put inside a cage. They have to be in this cage for the duration of their sentence and only allowed out for certain things. It goes without saying that the criminal will realise what they have done wrong and pay for their sins. Hannah’s husband has died and she is suppose to be having Jem the man that murdered her husband into her home. How can she look at this man as he has taken away her husband from her but not all is as it seems. As they continue living alongside each other, Hannah learns more things that she never could imagine. There are several twists in this book, a couple of them I did guess but it is a very unique story line and feels very fresh, one that made me think what I would do in Hannah’s situation. I think the storyline has been well executed and written well. One that will stay with me.

Book Promotion Directory 2021 Blogs & Promoters By Deena Rae Schoenfeldt

Book Promotion Directory 2021 Blogs & Promoters By Deena Rae Schoenfeldt

The Book Promotion Directory lists blogs and book promotion providers to help Indie Authors promote and market their books. Listing blog addresses, contact information, what types of posts they allow authors to share on their sites, if they review and if so where reviews are posted, standard turnaround time, and book formats accepted. Indexes list bloggers by accepted genre so you can easily find sites amenable to your subject matter. Book Promotion companies show contact information, what genres they are equipped to promote, services offered and pricing range.

With more than 180 blogs and almost 40 book promotion companies, complete with live links to facilitate easy contact, this is a must-have for authors looking for help promoting their new releases and backlist titles. Bonus material of almost 200 other book promotion avenues as a starting point to help authors start building their own promotion blueprint.

My Thoughts:

I think this directory is much better than the last one, even though the last one was good. I feel as though this one is laid out better. It is easy to understand and easier to follow. I think it is a brilliant idea for authors as they can find a blogger and see if they read a specific genre. Over the years I have had many authors contact me quoting this directory and I am forever grateful to be part of it. For the e-copy it also has live links to all the sites so it makes it even more easier for an author. The great news about this directory is it holds over 180 blogs all in alphabetical order and at the back there is the book promotion page, If you are a new author, this will really help to start mapping out what you want to achieve, it is a very handy tool. I think this book helps authors and also blogs to establish themselves.
