The Parent Trap (Mishaps in Millrise Book 3) By Tilly Tennant

The Parent Trap (Mishaps in Millrise Book 3) By Tilly Tennant

Part 3 – The Parent Trap

A shock development turns Phoebe’s world upside-down. But it’s one that Jack has difficulty coming to terms with too, and they seem to be growing further and further apart. Archie continues to stir up trouble between them, until one night his reckless actions almost end in tragedy. And he’s not the only one causing problems in Phoebe’s life, as Midnight adds her own peculiar spanner in the works.

Phoebe buries herself in her job, and it looks as though Hendry’s might actually be on the road to financial recovery. But if she loses Jack and Midnight, what will it all be for?

My Thoughts:

Isn’t the cover of this book absolutely gorgeous, but then all of Tilly Tennant’s covers are gorgeous. Go on, have a look you know you want to. So this is the third book in the mishaps in Millrise series and it doesn’t disappoint so we meet back up with Phoebe and Jack and how their relationship is going. Of course, there is going to be lovers tiffs, arguments and disasters but that’s what we love reading about. I can’t wait for the conclusion of this series, it will be sad that it will be all over but good as I can’t wait to find out what happens. Such an enjoyable read.

Seaside Nights (Love in Bloom: Seaside Summers, Book 5) By Melissa Foster

Seaside Nights (Love in Bloom: Seaside Summers, Book 5) By Melissa Foster

Sky Lacroux has finally realized her dream and opened her own tattoo shop in Provincetown, Massachusetts. She’s happy as can be, preparing the shop for its grand opening and renting a cottage in the Seaside community while renovations to her new apartment are being completed. The only thing missing is the one thing she longs for, and has no control over–love.

Sawyer Bass, a professional boxer, plays his guitar at a local bar to escape the painful reality of his father’s deteriorating health and a recent health warning of his own. But when he spots a stunning brunette across the room, escaping reality goes out the window, and the beautiful woman becomes the focus of his next song–and maybe even the rest of his life.

When Sawyer walks into Sky’s tattoo shop and sees the woman from the bar–Sky–the chemistry between them is instant. Sawyer is everything Sky could ever hope for in a man. He’s honest, loving, sensitive, and potently virile–but boxing goes against everything Sky believes in. The closer they become, the more she realizes that her alpha boxer is waging his own emotional battle–only the battle she thinks he’s waging isn’t the one that threatens to tear them apart.

My Thoughts:

Melissa Foster’s books are fantastic, I literally cannot get enough of them. I love meeting up with the seaside gang it brings a warm fuzzy feeling to my tummy like I know them in real life. It’s weird huh? But anyways this book does not disappoint it has heartache, and some truly wonderful characters some old ones from previous books and some new. This story is certainly up there with books I have loved this year.I have loved and read all of Melissa’s books now and I can safely say that there is not one I have enjoyed but don’t take my word for it, see for yourself. I can assure you, you will be hooked.

At Therapy’s End By Susie Flashmann Jarvis

At Therapy’s End By Susie Flashmann Jarvis

Revisiting painful memories, grief threatens to destroy relationships as Sophie and her daughter, Katie, wrestle with guilt, and Simon, their loving husband and father, can only look on in despair.

Grief’s shadow threatens to overwhelm them all, and Sophie finds herself face to face with her abusive childhood. Will they be able to find a way through their heartache to a place of healing and peace? What will they find at therapy’s end?

My Thoughts:

I was lucky enough to get a copy from Susie herself and I really appreciate it. Wow!! where do I begin, this is such a heartbreaking and honest book that deals with real life problems. Even though I am yet to be a mother I could understand how heart breaking it must be to have lost a child. Susie has written this book so well with such emotion that you will have a tear in your eye. It is unfortunately something some of us have been through or know someone who has been through it. It has made me open my eyes and think about life in general. This is a story that will definitely stay with me. I love the way how the book was set out with mum, dad and daughter speaking about what had happened and how they were coming to terms with it. There are a few twists along the way that I didn’t expect. This book certainly shows how one tragedy can unite a family. Brilliantly written.

Caught up in a web of unanswered questions and hastily concealed injustices, the spotlight begins to shine on Lise. She’s being watched, and the doors of Menaker psychiatric hospital are closing in.

My Thoughts:

I was lucky enough to win this book on goodreads. I do love a psychological thriller and this one didn’t disappoint, probably not as good as some I have read but I did enjoy this one.  I wanted to find out about the story with Jason Edwards and what was to become of him. This is a fast paced story and I really liked how the book was split up into five parts, the story was cleverly written but I am afraid to say I guessed what was going to happen before it did. I will definitely be reading more of John Burley’s books as I loved the way he writes with so much description.

My Thoughts:

I would like to say a big thank you to the author for sending me a copy of her book. This is a completely engrossing story, I literally couldn’t put it down and was reading it at every chance I had. I love the way the story is written by different view points. I found reading about what thoughts went through the murderers before and after an attack really interesting. I can’t believe this is the author’s first book, it is definitely a name I will keep an eye out for in the future.

This is such a quick and easy read which I really enjoyed. I had to buy this book as I enjoyed the first one but also because I am a big fan of ice cream. I found it fascinating how Anna and Matteo decide to set up an ice cream shop in Italy, I loved all the flavours they were dishing out to the locals and the tourists. I really loved this follow up book and finding out what everyone had got up to. I look forward to Abby Clements next book very much.

What Milo Saw By Virginia Macgregor

What Milo Saw By Virginia Macgregor

A BIG story about a small boy who sees the world a little differently

Milo curled his thumb and forefinger together to make a small hole and held his fingers up to Al’s eyes. ‘Look through here. That’s what I see. Kind of, only worse.’
‘Wow, that must be amazing.’
Milo shrugged. ‘Not really.’
‘I mean, it makes you focus, doesn’t it? I bet you see all kinds of stuff that other people miss.’

Nine-year-old Milo Moon has retinitis pigmentosa: his eyes are slowly failing and he will eventually go blind. But for now he sees the world through a pin hole and notices things other people don’t. When Milo’s beloved gran succumbs to dementia and moves into a nursing home, Milo soon realises there’s something wrong at the home. So with just Tripi, the nursing home’s cook, and Hamlet, his pet pig, to help, Milo sets out on a mission to expose the nursing home and the sinister Nurse Thornhill.

My Thoughts:

I was lucky to receive an arc of this book, it is such a wonderful story about a boy called Milo who see’s wrong but does right. I had never heard of Milo’s eye condition retinitis pigmentosa before so that was really interesting to read about, I loved the fact his pet was a pig called Hamlet. I loved the plot where Milo is trying to rescue his gran who is slowly deteriorating from a care home where they are not looking after her or any of the other patients that live there. In this book you will find humour, lots of love and sadness. A truly awe inspiring read.
