Susan Hill’s first short story collection for fifteen years contains these two ghost stories and four others, including reflections by the Duchess of Windsor in extreme old age on the marriage that changed everything.

My Thoughts:

I need something with a little light relief after reading lots of thrillers recently and this book was perfect, it is split into six different stories, I read in half a day and enjoyed all of the stories. It was just the right amount of stories that kept me hooked. The ones I particularly liked were Walter and Florence and Hunger. It just shows you how cruel people can be when people are at their lowest. The stories are all about individuals and with this book they are opening up their world for all to see. It made me thoughtful and one that will stay with me for a long time.

Wow!what a great read! I like this mystery thriller where the plot is super engaging and hooked us up from the very start. The story was narrated by a bunch of character’s points of view. It reminds me of the book ” Big Little Lies ” and one of the “Agatha Christie ” novels (which I forgot the name). As they narrated the events from their perspective we couldn’t stop imagining the other character’s take on it .which speaks about the author’s brilliance way of capturing the reader. All the knots are slowly untied and we could kind of guessed one or two things but otherwise nearly up to the end, we couldn’t predict anything solid to spoil the thrill. My Thoughts:

I was intrigued to read a new author and this sounded like something I would enjoy and I certainly did, I liked the sound of the blurb, 30 somethings going to a wedding on a remote Island of course something sinister is going to happen but what and who did it? I liked the way each chapter is a different wedding guest and the bride and groom, I feel as though the reader gets a sense of actually being there. There are lots of secrets that unravel when being all together and we find out things that shocked me. The story keeps you guessing till the very end and made me gasp as the ending is quite shocking. I look forward to reading more of Lucy’s books.

My Thoughts:

This is not my usual read but I really wanted to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it. It is a mysterious story of Dark Knights and a Witch-King which is dark at times but more than I could ever imagine the book to be. Lots of different characters, some I liked, some I didn’t like, but only because this was how they were portrayed in the story as characters that you are not suppose to like. But all in all the story is set around a conquest which involves love, hope and humour which was really unexpected. As this was book one I am now intrigued to read book 2. I did enjoy the story but as it is not my preferred genre I have given it 4/5 stars.

My Thoughts:

After reading Hunting Abigail by Jeremy, I couldn’t wait to dive straight in to his novella, at just 52 pages this short story definitely packs a punch. I love it when you feel a connection with a character and I certainly did with Janice, the story is about her and her relationship with her husband David, she is very lonely and her husband when he is around doesn’t really bother with her making her feel worthless and unloved. I really felt sorry for her and hoped that something good would happen for her, along comes a very hot sounding chef who starts to give Janice a bit of attention that she so desperately craves, it is a hard situation to be in but I would of said to her to leave her husband first. Unfortunately a secret is uncovered and throws everyone’s lives upside down, can Janice recover from it or will she be left in the dark? I can’t seem to get enough of Jeremy’s books and I look forward to the next one.

My Thoughts:

An outstanding story, I literally felt as though my heart was in the mouth reading this intense thriller. I couldn’t put it down. I physically couldn’t get enough of it, I liked everything about this story and more, I can’t wait for Jeremy’s next book. There are two stories that are cleverly woven together and the characters add to the fantastic heart stopping story that left me feeling drunk on a book. I have never felt like that before.

My Thoughts:

I am a big fan of Louise Candlish’s books, they are all brilliant including this one. It’s about Jamie and his friend Kit, when Kit goes missing the police want to know what happened the night a witness saw him and Jamie having a tussle, now the police want to speak to Jamie, does Jamie know where Kit is or are more secrets going to unravel as we are this story take a few dramatic turns. You never know who is really watching you. A dramatic gripping thriller that will leave you shocked to the core.

My Thoughts:

Every book I have read by Tilly, always brings a smile to my face. This story got even better when the word waffle house came into view. I liked the fact it was something a bit different from the norm and I am a huge lover of waffles so that helps too. This is Sadie and her families story where we see a devastating loss and the family has to decide what to do about the waffle house. I was expecting to hear more about the waffles but when you read the whole story you can see why. It is more about the family and how they cope with yet more heartbreak amongst other things. There is a little bit of romance in here too that made me smile. If you want to just get away for a bit, I would recommend this read.

My Thoughts:

Doesn’t the cover make you just want to dive straight in? I certainly did when I got this book. From being a big fan of Carole’s books I couldn’t wait to jump in and it certainly does not disappoint. Her books bring comfort and joy to my heart, and the characters are very unique. I felt my heartstrings tug a little for Jodie as what she had been through must of been incredibly hard but written with sensitivity. I really warmed to Marilyn she shows what ever you have been through in your life, chin up and carry on and I love that about her. Wanting to know what she was wearing each day also bought a little smile to my face. Ned is lovely too, and sounds rather dishy, but you can’t have a Carole Matthews story without a dishy man can you. Another fabulous read from a brilliant author.

My Thoughts:

This book comes with a warning for mature and fun loving adults over the age of 18. I didn’t know what to expect when being asked to read and review this book. I knew it would a romantic comedy with naughtiness if you get what I am saying but it was a book that made me blush quite a few times, it is a very erotic read which I don’t normally go for I just liked that it was a romantic comedy. It is a pretty funny story line involving Karl, when he touches women they orgasm, he goes on a pretty intense but really funny journey. I think some people would be put off by the amount of erotic content, put that aside the story was funny and silly that is what made me read on.
