Fragile By Sarah Hilary

Fragile By Sarah Hilary

Everything she touches breaks . . .

Nell Ballard is a runaway. A former foster child with a dark secret she is desperate to keep, all Nell wants is to find a place she can belong.

So when a job comes up at Starling Villas, home to the enigmatic Robin Wilder, she seizes the opportunity with both hands.

But her new lodgings may not be the safe haven that she was hoping for. Her employer lives by a set of rigid rules and she soon sees that he is hiding secrets of his own.

But is Nell’s arrival at the Villas really the coincidence it seems? After all, she knows more than most how fragile people can be – and how easy they can be to break . . .

My Thoughts:

Nell craves finding somewhere she can belong, when she was young she was a foster child and always use to runaway, now she is older she just wants to settle, when a job comes up, she jumps at the chance of looking after Robin, but is everything as it seems, she knows how people can be, will she find peace or will she become fragile once again? I found this a hauntingly and dark thriller that leads the reader through a house that is full of secrets and crushed lives. You can feel the atmosphere through the pages and the writing is beautiful yet fragile.

I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.

Kiss Me, Kill Me By J. S. Carol

When Zoe meets Dan, he’s everything she is looking for in a man – intelligent, charming, supportive.
It’s only after they’re married that she realises that he’s controlling, aggressive, paranoid.
And there’s no way out.

Or is there?

Zoe knows she has to escape, but Dan’s found her once before, and she knows he can find her again.
But Dan has plans of his own. Plans that don’t necessarily include Zoe.

Be careful who you trust . . .

My Thoughts:

I was intrigued after reading the blurb for this book, it sounded gripping and it didn’t disappoint. I found it tense and a dark read. The two main characters are Dan and his wife Zoe, he is a very controlling husband and paranoid too. This book is full of twists, you think it is going one way and then something completely different happens. I couldn’t believe how hooked I was and how involved I felt. I definitely want to read more by this author.

Louise

Since her husband walked out, Louise has made her son her world, supporting them both with her part-time job. But all that changes when she meets…

David

Young, successful and charming – Louise cannot believe a man like him would look at her twice let alone be attracted to her. But that all comes to a grinding halt when she meets his wife…

Adele

Beautiful, elegant and sweet – Louise’s new friend seems perfect in every way. As she becomes obsessed by this flawless couple, entangled in the intricate web of their marriage, they each, in turn, reach out to her.

But only when she gets to know them both does she begin to see the cracks… Is David really the man she thought she knew and is Adele as vulnerable as she appears?
Just what terrible secrets are they both hiding and how far will they go to keep them?

My Thoughts:

After reading the plot I was fairly certain this was going to be really good, after reading half way through I thought it was really good but unfortunately the ending was a let down, it just seemed a bit ridiculous. It is a bit of a messed up story one that is dark too.
