My Thoughts:

I have to say even though I prefer Chick-lit books, I did really enjoy a break from them to read this fantastic book. The plot is so interesting that I could hardly the book down. The details in this book are amazing and I found that the author had clearly put a lot of thought into each of the chapters. There are two major story lines in this book and Chris has put them together so unexpectedly but so well. Bring on the next book. I did not know what to expect from this book but I absolutely loved it.

My Thoughts:

This a captivating tale about the effects of the war. The history that was bought throughout the book was excellent, it bought the book alive and I thought all the characters were brilliant. There is quite a bit about post traumatic stress/shell shock in this book that is researched extremely well, I found it a very interesting read and I felt I could understand how the soldiers were feeling. Rose and Alfie’s story was told through Rose writing a diary and it was told in both the past and the present, which I feel that the story came more alive. I think the cover is poignant too and it is beautiful. Everyone should read this book.

My Thoughts:

I loved this book, I have only ever read one of Miranda’s books before and quite liked it. I know it is predictable what is going to happen early on in this book but Miranda has written it well so that it didn’t really bother me.I think the main character Bea is lovely, i mean who wouldn’t fall for Jake he sounds utterly gorgeous and a decent kind of guy. I love the way Bea and her Gran write letters or emails to each other and that it is written in a different font, it somehow makes it extra special. Bit of a shame the plot was predictable but I totally loved it no matter. The cover is gorgeous too, it is a must if you like chick-lit.

My Thoughts:

I am a big fan of Jenny Colgan, and couldn’t wait to get my hands on a copy of this book. Normally I wait until it comes out in paperback but I literally couldn’t wait so bought it in hardback as a treat. There are a couple of other books before this one which I would suggest you read but if you didn’t want to, Jenny does come recap about what had happened at the start of each book. This story had a brilliant little plot, some people would probably say they could tell what was going to happen, but I don’t mind that as Jenny has a way of writing where you feel that it doesn’t really matter. There was some brilliant characters in this book including Rosie, who I am very envious of as she owns a sweetshop and little baby Apostil, who just seems so cute. I love the fact Jenny has a map in the front of her book and a timeline, it makes you feel as if you are included in the story. If you know what I mean. Fantastic recipes at the back of this book and all of her other books, that you simply must try out as they are brilliant. Rather than a 5/5 I would definitely give this book a 10.

My Thoughts:

I am totally and utterly in love with these books. They keep you hooked right from the start. The characters are fun and interesting, I really liked Jenna as she loves collecting stone and has a large collection of flip-flops, which I found to be quite quirky. I have to say that this book is a little raunchy in places, but in my opinion Melissa Foster has written it brilliantly as it isn’t too much or too in your face. The story also covers alcoholism, which I think Melissa has written about really well. She manages to do it sympathetically. Really looking forward to the next book. I would definitely recommend this book.

My Thoughts:

I love Veronica’s books they always seem to leave a lasting impression. There are lots of characters in this book, the main one being Jane, Veronica transports us back in time so we can learn about Jane’s childhood, which was very interesting. With the other characters in this book, Veronica seems to give us a glimpse into their lives with enough information to get you hooked. I love the cover of this book it reminded me of growing up and going to the beach, there is a certain calm about it also. I have also just realised that Veronica has published ‘The Beach Hut Next Door’ in July of this year, so will be heading out to pick that one up right away. Such a delightful read from an amazing author.

My Thoughts:

This book I won on Goodreads.When reading the blurb for this book I have to say I was intrigued, the idea of a divorce hotel sounded like a fresh, intriguing idea. Throughout the book you meet a few divorce couples that have completely different characteristics and reasons for wanting a divorce but the main character is Chloe, who has had her fair share of heartbreak. A nice, light-hearted story with a unique idea that really does work.

My Thoughts:

Not having read any of Paige’s books before I wasn’t sure if I was going to like the book or not…. well what a surprise, I really don’t know why I have never read any of her books before. I loved all the characters in this story especially Lachie, who is a bit of a heart throb in my eyes. I thought I knew what was going to happen in this story but was pleasantly surprised when it didn’t. This is a truly wonderful book that will have you hooked right from the word go. A fantastic, light, chick- lit that will make you laugh. Look forward to reading all of Paige’s other books now.

It’s the lazy end of summer and Freya is about to start her A levels. Her brother Joe died a year ago, but she is slowly coming to terms with his death. She is beginning to feel ready for something new – a change. And then a railway accident brings her by chance into contact with the gorgeous Gabes. Freya is drawn not just to Gabes himself and his blond good looks, but everything about him, including his large, shambolic, warm and loving family, which seems to Freya so different to her own family of three.

And then Gabes’ clearly troubled older brother makes it clear he is interested in Freya – and Freya has some decisions to make about what she really wants.

My Thoughts:

I have read one of Jane Green’s books before and was a bit disappointed towards the end, but I have to say I enjoyed this one a little better. Great characters that you feel you may know them, fantastic little story that you just want to curl up under a blanket with. These books are part of a series but can also be read standalone, which I think is great. Jane has a brilliant way of making you feel as if you are there with her vivid images that just leap off the page. Cover looks nice and bright too. Nice, easy read, I finished it in two days.

A year in the life of a playground mother Ever had the pleasure of collecting your children from the school playground? Even if you haven’t this is a hilarious must read. A month by month comical tale of a young mother fighting for her place in the world against the backdrop of the Playground Mafia. As her life unfolds and she takes us through from one amusing anecdote to another the characters come to life.

There is Penelope who has a lot more going on in her life than she bargained for and Mrs Noland who has a lot less than she claims, not to mention Rupert who is a VERY busy man. With Mrs High School Musical, The International Sex God and The Frisky Pensioner, the characters are undeniably fascinating and leave you compelled to read more. Who knew one false move in the playground, one step in the wrong direction, or smile at the wrong person could lead to such complications?

The witty one liners and side splitting stories will keep you amused from beginning to end. Lively, and entertaining, a hilarious comedy that every playground mother can relate to.

My Thoughts:

This book was fabulous, such a nice light hearted read, which was very funny the whole way through. Christie has written well to include some horrifying moments but also some real laugh out loud moments. I can see many parents being able to relate to many of the incidents that happen and they will be able to see the funny side of them even if they weren’t laughing at the time. Am now looking forward to Christie’s next book.
