Emma Maria Rossini appears to be the luckiest girl in the world. She’s the daughter of a beautiful and loving mother, and her father is one of the most famous film actors of his generation. She’s also the granddaughter of a rather eccentric and obscure Italian astrophysicist.

But as her seemingly charmed life begins to unravel, and Emma experiences love and tragedy, she ultimately finds solace in her once-derided grandfather’s Theorem on the universe.

My Thoughts:

I like how the book is cut up into three parts, which are all written by Emma’s perspective who is the main character. Emma is a woman who I found complicated but her life seems very intriguing. I found the layout of the book very unique and a very clever way of showing Emma’s life. There are parts that are funny, sad and relatable. I would recommend this book.

My Thoughts:

I like how this book is divided up into the past and present. Stella returns to her family home after a very long time after a body is found near to where she grew up. The residents are not keen to see her and she wonders what they are hiding. A very well written story with believable characters set on a tiny island.

For Sam Lovell, organising the summer festival in her hometown is one of the highlights of her year. It’s not always smooth sailing, but she loves to see Porthmellow’s harbour packed with happy visitors, and being on the committee has provided a much-needed distraction from the drama in her family life (and the distinct lack of it in her love life).

When their star guest pulls out with only a few weeks to go, everyone’s delighted when a London chef who grew up locally steps in at the last minute. But Gabe Matthias is the last person Sam was expecting to see, and his return to Porthmellow will change her quiet coastal life for ever.

My Thoughts:

If you want to be whisked away to a lovely little Cornish town called Portmellow then you will want to read this book. I loved the story line and how all the community pull together in times of need. It makes you want to go and escape to Cornwall and join in with the food festival and meet some of the lovely people that live there. A nice summer read.

My Thoughts:

I wasn’t too sure what to expect from this book, but I was pleasantly surprised about how much I enjoyed reading train man. Not only do you hear about Micheal’s story, we get to know some of the other people that are riding the train with Micheal and we hear their stories too. It is a story that really makes you think, everyone has their own story and not to judge a book by its cover.

Why Mummy Doesn’t Give A ……! By Gill Sims

Mummy dreams of a quirky rural cottage with roses around the door and chatty chickens in the garden. Life, as ever, is not going quite as she planned. Paxo, Oxo and Bisto turn out to be highly rambunctious, rather than merely chatty, and the roses have jaggy thorns.

Her precious moppets are now giant teenagers, and instead of wittering at her about who would win in a fight – a dragon badger or a ninja horse – they are Snapchatting the night away, stropping around the tiny cottage and communicating mainly in grunts – except when they are demanding Ellen provides taxi services in the small hours.

And there is never, but never, any milk in the house. At least the one thing they can all agree on is that rescued Barry the Wolfdog may indeed be The Ugliest Dog in the World, but he is also the loveliest.

My Thoughts:

After having read the other two books before this, I couldn’t wait to dive straight back in and see how Ellen was getting on. These books are not just for mums to read, and they really are laugh out loud stories. You couldn’t make them up if you tried. These books are highly addictive and I am already looking forward to the next instalment.

My Thoughts:

I love the design on the cover it feels really summery. I loved the storyline as it is a little unusual. There are some truly spectacular characters too and some ghosts. I love how everyone pulls together and gets involved. I really felt connected to Amelia and I wished her happiness and success. Ali McNamara’s books just keep getting better and better.

I was intrigued by this book, the cover is very unique and it made me want to know what the book was all about. The characters are all well written and relatable, this is a story that will draw you in from the beginning and wont let you surface until the very end. I wanted to find out the ending but then I didn’t as I knew the book would be finished.

My Thoughts:

I can never resist a book written by the wonderful Paige Toon. Her books are always so full of life and brilliant characters. Angie is the main character in this book, she doesn’t have any family left in the UK so decides to travel to Italy to see if she can connect with her father who she doesn’t know. It’s a lovely story, I felt as though I was learning about Italy too which seems a wonderful place where I would love to go. Add a little bit of romance, good food, good wine and family and it is the perfect mix for a brilliant story.

My Thoughts:

Claire Allan is a fantastic author who keeps you on the edge of your seat through out all of her books. This story was brilliant in the way there are twists and turns at every possible time. You can’t stop reading as the chapters leave you wanting more. The chapters alternate between the two main characters and it is interesting to see how they grow as a person. Another fantastic read, look forward to the next one.

My Thoughts:

I need to read more of Heidi’s books they are fantastic. I couldn’t put this little cracker of a read down. Some lovely characters and a dishy neighbour, what more can you ask for? I loved reading about Poppy’s new life moving to Nightingale Square, you can see how good a community that she has come into.
