Thirteen Weddings By Paige Toon

Thirteen Weddings By Paige Toon

Last year, Bronte left Sydney for a wedding in England, where she met newly single Alex. After a night of passion they parted ways, and Bronte returned to Australia. Now working on a picture desk for a magazine in London, Bronte is about to meet her new colleague, who turns out to be all too familiar. Although awkward at first, as Alex is now engaged to the girl he was on a break from when they met, they soon become friends. But as the two get closer, and the wedding day looms, it is clear that Alex and Bronte have unfinished business…A charming bittersweet novel from the author of The Longest Holiday.

My Thoughts:

Not having read any of Paige’s books before I wasn’t sure if I was going to like the book or not…. well what a surprise, I really don’t know why I have never read any of her books before. I loved all the characters in this story especially Lachie, who is a bit of a heart throb in my eyes. I thought I knew what was going to happen in this story but was pleasantly surprised when it didn’t. This is a truly wonderful book that will have you hooked right from the word go. A fantastic, light, chick- lit that will make you laugh. Look forward to reading all of Paige’s other books now.

My Thoughts:

Fiona Harper is such a brilliant author, she writes with such enthusiasm that I can never get enough of her books. This book is about two sisters who decided to swap holidays for Christmas, I know it isn’t Christmas just yet but decided to read it anyway and I am glad I did. The story is an enjoyable one that focuses on families, Fiona has a way of writing where you think about the people who are close to you and what matters the most. The cover of this book drew me towards it as it is really pretty.A heart warming story that you will love even if it isn’t Christmas.

The Long Weekend By Veronica Henry

The Long Weekend By Veronica Henry

In a gorgeous quayside hotel in Cornwall, the long weekend is just beginning….

Claire Marlowe owns ‘The Townhouse by the sea’ with Luca, the hotel’s charismatic chef. She ensures everything runs smoothly – until an unexpected arrival checks in and turns her whole world upside down.

And the rest of the guests arrive with their own baggage. There’s a couple looking for distraction from  family tragedy; a man trying to make amends for an affair he bitterly regrets … and a young woman who thinks the Cornish village might hold the key to her past.

Here are affairs of the heart, secrets, lies and scandal – all wrapped up in one long, hot weekend.

My Thoughts:

I have read a few of Veronica’s books now and they never fail to disappoint. Veronica manages to tell a few different people’s stories in one book, but do not be put off as Veronica does it without it being too overwhelming. I found myself drawn to each and every character and their problems. I didn’t want to put this book down, even though I wanted to find out what happened, I savored every moment. Such a lovely, enjoyable read. One I couldn’t put down.

My Thoughts:

This book is a definite must if your going on holiday. I was drawn into this book by the world of Polo, and the fact that it is a nice easy read. The characters were believable and I found myself drawn in, I am really looking forward to the sequel. This is definitely a one for chick-lit fans.

There were so many times I thought about telling you the truth, Eva. What stopped me was always the same thing…..

In a single breath everything changes. The memories of the man she married start slipping through her fingers like sand as everything she ever knew and loved about him is thrown into question. My Thoughts:

I have read Lucy Clarke’s first novel ‘ The Sea Sisters’ and absolutely loved it so couldn’t wait to read this one. Lucy has a way of writing that you never know what’s coming next. There are so many twists and turns in this book, you think you know what’s going to happen and then something unexpectedly happens which you weren’t prepared for. The plot is so gripping and the words are so beautiful, how Lucy describes everything is just amazing. The cover to this book looks amazing too. Loved this book, it will stay with me forever.

How to Fall in Love By Cecelia Ahern

How to Fall in Love By Cecelia Ahern

An emotional, captivating and ultimately uplifting novel from this uniquely talented author.

Christine Rose is crossing the Ha’penny Bridge in Dublin late one night when she sees a stranger, Adam, poised to jump. Desperate to help, she talks him into a reckless deal: If he gives her two weeks – till his 35th birthday – she’ll prove that life is worth living.

But as the clock ticks and the two embark on late-night escapades and romantic adventures, what Christine has really promised seems impossible….

A novel to make you laugh, cry and appreciate life, this is Cecelia Ahern at her thoughtful and surprising best.

My Thoughts:

I love Cecelia Ahern’s books, they are a fantastic read and this was no exception. This story is something completely different to anything I have ever read before. Cecelia tackles different issues including depression, loss and adoption in this story and she has done it very well. This is a great read that you wont want to put down. It is a bit different from your average chick-lit book but one that I would highly recommend to read. It made me feel grateful for the life I have and to never take things for granted.

The Wedding Proposal By Sue Moorcroft

The Wedding Proposal By Sue Moorcroft

Can a runaway bride stop running?

Elle Jamieson is a private person, in relationships as well as work – and for good reason. But then she’s made redundant and with no ties to hold her, Elle heads off to sunny Malta.

Lucas Rose hates secrets – he prides himself on his ability to lay his cards on the table and he expects nothing less in return. He’s furious when his summer working as a divemaster is interrupted by the arrival of Elle, his ex, all thanks to his Uncle Simon’s misguided attempts at matchmaking.

Forced to live in close proximity, it’s hard to ignore what they had shared before Lucas’s wedding proposal scared Elle away. But then a phone call from England allows Lucas a rare glimpse of the true Elle. Can he deal with Elle’s closely guarded when it finally comes to light?

My Thoughts:

Firstly, I have to say I absolutely loved the cover of this book, it definitely caught my eye and I couldn’t wait to start reading. I have read a couple of Sue’s books before but will for sure be purchasing more of her books. This book is set in the idyllic harbour of Malta. It made me dream of being there. This story is about Elle and Lucas, they have been apart fro a very long time and are thrown back together of all places on a yacht. As you can imagine there is tension and a bit of love. Elle grabbed my attention from the first chapter and I couldn’t put this book down, this story is so well written with twists and turns throughout. Loved it so much.

Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy By Helen Fielding

Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy By Helen Fielding

Is is morally wrong to have a blow-dry when one of your children has head lice?

Is Technology now the fifth element? Or is that wood?

Is sleeping with someone after 2 dates and 6 weeks of texting the same as getting married after 2 meetings and 6 months of letter writing in Jane Austen’s day?

Pondering these, and other modern dilemma’s, Bridget Jones stumbles through the challenges of single-motherhood, tweeting, texting and rediscovering her sexuality in what SOME people rudely and outdatedly call ‘middle age’.

My Thoughts:

I thoroughly recommend reading the first two books if you haven’t already. This book I don’t feel was as good as the last two. Although it was a nice, easy read  and everyone loves Bridget, the story for me just didn’t work. The anecdotes about modern family life were quite funny.  A perfect beach read.

My Thoughts:

I have read all of Trisha Ashley’s book so far and really enjoyed them. This story is about finding love where you least expect it. Trisha Ashley is a brilliant author and this book was really funny. When I started it I wasn’t sure if it would hold my interest,  but after the first chapter I knew I would like it. The characters all interlinked with one another but had their own agenda.I would say not her best book but I enjoyed it.

What Would Mary Berry Do? By Claire Sandy

What Would Mary Berry Do? By Claire Sandy

Marie Dunwoody doesn’t want for much in life. She has a lovely husband, three wonderful children, and a business of her own. But her cupcakes are crap. Her meringues are runny and her biscuits rock-hard. She cannot bake for toffee. Or, for that matter, make toffee.

Marie can’t ignore the disappointed looks any more, or continue to be shamed by neighbour and nemesis, Lucy Gray. Lucy whips up perfect profiteroles with one hand, while ironing her bed sheets with the other. Marie’s had enough: this is the year it all changes. She vows to follow – to the letter – recipes from the Queen of Baking, and at all times ask, ‘What would Mary Berry do?’

Husband Robert has noticed that his boss takes crumb structure as seriously as budget cuts and with redundancies on the horizon, he too puts on a pinny. Twins Rose and Iris are happy to eat all the half-baked mistakes that come their way, but big brother Angus is more distant than usual, as if something is troubling him. And there is no one as nosey as a matching pair of nine-year-old girls…..

Marie starts to realise that the wise words of Mary Berry can help her with more than just a Victoria Sponge. But can Robert save the wobbling souffle that is his career? And is Lucy’s sweet demeanour hiding something secretly sour?

My Thoughts:

What a brilliant read! There is a warning that comes with this book – you will want to eat cake and lots of it. This is definitely one for people that love’ The Great British Bake Off’. Great family life story, found parts in it that I could relate to. The cover to this book is amazing, I literally bought it and then made a cake, now I like baking but this has inspired me to bake more, maybe from a Mary Berry book. I loved every single character, Claire has written it well to touch on certain issues and I just found it a heart warming story that you just want to snuggle up with and maybe have a cake or two. A laugh out loud read.
