Promise Me By Jill Mansell

Promise Me By Jill Mansell

One minute Lou is happily employed, with a perfect flat. The next, her home and job have gone. Suddenly she has to start over.

The last thing Lou wants is to move to a tiny Cotswolds village. She certainly doesn’t intend to work for curmudgeonly eighty-year-old Edgar Allsopp. But Edgar is about to make her the kind of promise nobody could ignore. In return, she secretly vows to help him fall in love with life again.

Foxwell is also home to Remy, whose charm and charisma are proving hard to ignore. But Lou hasn’t recovered from the last time she fell for a charmer. She needs a distraction – and luckily one’s about to turn up.

Secrets never stay hidden for long in Foxwell, nor are promises always kept. And no one could guess what lies ahead…

My Thoughts:

Jill is definitely one of my go to authors, I can always guarantee a great read with any of her books. This has to be my favourite book of this year. I fell in love with the story as soon a s a read the plot. Lou is the main character in the story and her life is going well until it isn’t. She has to move and look for another job but her new job comes in the most unexpected way. Meet Edgar who is an eighty year old man who is not a big fan of people and is quite grumpy most of the time, he wants Lou to help him but can she help me a lot more than just his basic needs. It is a truly wonderful story that melted my heart and tugged on my heart strings. I love the way they both help each other and bring the best out in each other. There were tears in my eyes. I would definitely recommend this heart warming read.

I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.
