The Flight of Cornelia Blackwood By Susan Elliot Wright

The Flight of Cornelia Blackwood By Susan Elliot Wright

What has happened to Cornelia Blackwood?
She has a loving marriage. But she has no friends.
Everyone knows her name. But no one will speak to her now.
Cornelia Blackwood has unravelled once before. Can she stop it from happening again?

My Thoughts:

This is a dark and compelling story that really moved me to my core. It is so well written that you really feel for Cornelia, you may not agree with some of the things she does but she somehow has a hold over you. When emotions take over you can see no end in sight I can’t imagine how that must feel, but this story about being a mother and struggling with loss is written with such sensitivity that it makes you more aware what happens in day to day life.

Molly Baker is living her best life.

Thirty-eight years old, she lives on the twenty-five-acre Hope Farm in Buckinghamshire, surrounded by (mostly) four-legged friends and rolling hills. There’s Anthony the anti-social sheep, Tina Turner the alpaca with attitude, and the definitely-not-miniature pig, Teacup.

Molly runs the farm as an alternative school for kids who haven’t thrived in mainstream education. It’s full on, but she wouldn’t have it any other way. So when the well-groomed Shelby Dacre turns up at Hope Farm asking to enrol his son Lucas, Molly isn’t fazed.

But Lucas is distant and soon Molly realises he might be more of a handful than she anticipated. And then there’s the added problem that his dad is distractingly handsome. Molly has her beloved farm to think of – could letting Lucas and Shelby in be a terrible mistake, or the start of something wonderful?

My Thoughts:

I love it when I get a big chunky book from one of my favourite authors, you just know it is going to be good. This is such a feel good story with lots of cute animals and of course romance. I found I really warmed to Molly the main character in the book as she is trying to do good by setting up a school for kids who have difficulties in main school, she kind of forgets about herself and I was wishing something lovely would happen for her.

Just how far is a mother willing to go?

When a mysterious note arrives for seven months pregnant nurse Eliana Hughes, she begins to doubt every aspect of her life – from her mixed feelings about motherhood to her marriage to Martin, who has become distant in recent months.

As the person behind the note escalates their campaign to out Eli’s husband as a cheat, she finds herself unable to trust even her own instincts, and as pressure builds, she makes a mistake that jeopardises her entire future.

Elsewhere, someone is watching. Someone who desperately wants a baby to call their own and will go to any lengths to become a mother – and stay a mother…

My Thoughts:

If you want a book that has twists and turns and a gripping plot then this is the book for you. It is a intriguing story that makes you wonder how far would you go? I found it a powerful and emotional read. It keeps you guessing till the very end.

Lara The Runaway Cat:One cat’s journey to discover home is where the heart is By Dion Leonard with Sophie Pembroke

Lara The Runaway Cat:One cat’s journey to discover home is where the heart is By Dion Leonard with Sophie Pembroke

lara

Lara the Runaway Cat tells the story of Gobi, the loveable pup who followed Dion Leonard across a gruelling 155-mile trek across the Gobi Desert, and her mischievous cat sister, Lara, who runs away from her family, seeking a courageous adventure and different life.

Lara doesn’t realise how good she has it in her home in Edinburgh with her owners, Dion and Lucja, and of course her sister, Gobi. If she’s being honest, she’s jealous of Gobi’s fame and the international attention she has received ever since Dion found her. Okay, Gobi may have survived an ultra-marathon across the Gobi Desert, but it’s not as if Lara doesn’t earn her fresh prawns! She dreams about the day when she can go outdoors and see the world, discover new friends and be free to make her own name.

But Lara’s wishful thinking gets the better of her as she takes a leap into the unknown and is forced to decide between her loyalties to her family and need to experience an adventure to rival Gobi’s. Join Lara in her eventful travels from Edinburgh to France, Beijing to Australia, where she is faced with challenges that will change her life forever.

My Thoughts:

This is the story about Lara the ragdoll cat and her adventures when her owners decide to take her and her brother Gobi ( he has his own story) away. It is how she decides she needs a bit more of adventure and ends up making a truly remarkable trip and meets some interesting people that she helps to change their lives for the better. It is written by the cat’s perspective so it was completely different to my normal reads but having a cat I was intrigued to read it.

Hearts Abroad: A Millionaire Single Dad Romance (Atlas Book 1) By Skye McNeil

Hearts Abroad: A Millionaire Single Dad Romance (Atlas Book 1) By Skye McNeil

skye.jpg

When a fun-loving American nanny turns a millionaire British single dad’s world upside down, it’s inevitable life is going to get complicated.

Taking a break from screenwriting in New York City, Londyn Bellerose takes a nannying job in Colorado to get away from the hubbub. A summer to live without regrets is all she wants. While her boss is British, gorgeous, and a millionaire, he has no clue how to have fun. Determined to mend the relationship between father and daughters, Londyn doesn’t expect to fall for the museum curator.

Londyn is American and everything Callum Archer swore to never fall for again. With her carefree spirit and energetic smile, she’s perfect to nanny Callum’s two daughters. The problem is she’s also perfect for him. She’s sassy, musical, and tends to speak her mind more than she means to.

When old history and new dreams threaten her happily ever after, will Londyn and Callum’s love survive?

My Thoughts:

I love getting a book that is the debut for the author which this one is. I am a big fan and look forward to book 2 in the series as it was really good. The writing flowed and the story line really worked. Sometimes it is hard to write about real life situations and be sensitive but Skye the author really handled them all very well indeed. The comedy is absolutely brilliant in it, ( I nearly snorted my tea out of my nose) and the characters are written well. I look forward to reading the next book.
