In Poppy Page’s mind, there are two types of women in this world: those who are faithful to their husbands, and those who are not. Until now, Poppy has never questioned which she was.
But when handsome, charming Matthew Gordon walks back into her life after almost two decades, that changes. Poppy makes a single mistake – and that mistake will be far more dangerous than she could imagine.
Someone is going to pay for it with their life . .
My Thoughts:
If you are after an addictive read this is the book for you, it is full of twists that I never saw coming. The chapters are split between Poppy and Betty, Poppy has a husband but does she love him as much as she should, is she stuck in a rut? when a blast from the past comes back into her life, will she decide to make a huge mistake that will turn her world upside down? I am not sure how I felt about Poppy, she has two teenage daughters and a husband so I didn’t see why she would want to mess it all up for nothing really. Betty is her mother in law and lives with them and it is interesting to see what she sees and hears. To hear Betty’s story we go back into the past and see what her relationship was like with her husband, it has been very sensitively done and made me shed a few tears that poor woman. I felt like this book was kind of like an onion as you have to peel back the layers of this story to get to the centre core where it is all happening.
I won this book in a TBC Competition by Penguin random house. Thank you
