Mainely Power By Matt Cost

Mainely Power By Matt Cost

Was Harold Dumphy killed to cover up something at the nuclear power plant where he was the head of security?

This is what Harold’s widow asks Goff Langdon, private detective, to find out. Langdon is a laid back, slacker detective, happy with his work, friends, and way of life in the town of Brunswick, Maine. To compliment his income in small town Maine’s scarce private detective market, Langdon also owns and operates a mystery bookstore named after his trusted companion, Coffee Dog.

Does Langdon stand a chance against corrupt cops, crooked politicians, greedy millionaires, radical environmentalists, and a deadly assassin named Shakespeare?

With the help of Bart, the bear of a cop; Jimmy 4 by Four, the hippie lawyer; the immigrants Jewell and Richam; and his true desire and employee, Chabal-Langdon sets out to do just that. And then he is framed for not one, but two murders, and events become very complicated.

Follow Langdon and his band of friends as they attempt to untangle the web of intrigue and return Brunswick to “the way life should be.”

My Thoughts:

I read this book in a day and bloody loved it. It had everything I wanted plus more. I was drawn to the main character who is called Goff Langdon he is a private detective but also has his own bookstore, which is named after his dog Coffee Dog. There is a interesting mix of characters some baddies like Shakespeare and greedy millionaires that Langdon has to deal with but also some nice characters like Chabal who runs the bookstore for Langdon. I liked the beginning, middle and end. How the story wraps up too is very good. This was a great first book and I look forward to book 2. 10/10

Chasing Ginger: A Steamy BBW Billionaire Rom Com (Misfits Series Book 1) By Marie Lavender

Chasing Ginger: A Steamy BBW Billionaire Rom Com (Misfits Series Book 1) By Marie Lavender

Chased by a group of angry men. Saved by quite a hunk.

This is not the résumé Ginger Halloway ever imagined having. But thanks to a miracle pill, which makes her size 22 body instantly sexy, that’s what happened.

Yet, now Lance Franklin is showing interest in her, and she can’t figure out if he really likes her for her, or if it’s just because of a bizarre drug.

And her wild bunch of friends, The Misfits…well, they’re always getting her into some interesting situations.

So, yep, business as usual. Except for the guy. What the hell should she do about him?

As for Lance, he believes he’s lucky to have found Ginger. But can he convince her they should go for it?

With some new attention from the hottest guy she’s ever met, Ginger can’t help but wonder…is this all too good to be true?

My Thoughts:

This book does come with a content warning for foul language and steamy scenes. Ginger is a full figured gutsy woman who has come to the realisation that she is never going to be the right size so decides to take a chance on a diet pill, what she doesn’t realise though that this pill makes men come at her like a magnet. It is a really funny story and I couldn’t stop laughing, it is a well written story with a unique story line, the only thing I worried about was the fact that the men wouldn’t leave Ginger alone. It is an issue I think that many women struggle with including myself. I think it has been written well. I look forward to book 2 in the misfits series.

Trust Me (Trust Me Find Me Romantic Suspense Series Book 1) By Nell Grey

Trust Me (Trust Me Find Me Romantic Suspense Series Book 1) By Nell Grey

Glyn Evans’ death is clearly a tragic suicide. An open and shut case. And yet something about it feels off…

In a single day, Annie Evans’ life is blown to bits. It’s a huge mess and she desperately needs to escape from London. Her father’s died and she needs to go home. The place she’s been avoiding for years.

For Sion Edwards, his old army buddy’s place is the perfect bolt hole. A safe place to hide from the people who want to make him pay for what he’s done.

And they won’t rest until he’s dead.

The detective is right. In this sleepy Welsh valley, not everything is as it seems…

My Thoughts:

If you are after a incredible debut novel then this one is for you, this story is set in Wales, which makes it feel more dramatic The story is about death, lies, trust and love, is Glyn’s death really a suicide? I felt as though it was like three stories jam packed into one story if that makes sense. When I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about it, Twists at the end that I didn’t see coming. I look forward to continuing and reading book 2.
