It’s a beautiful day in Manchester and four friends are meeting for a birthday lunch. But then they witness a shocking accident just metres away which acts as a catalyst for each of them.

For Laura, it’s a wake-up call to heed the ticking of her biological clock. Sensible Jo finds herself throwing caution to the wind in a new relationship. Eve, who has been trying to ignore the worrying lump in her breast, feels helpless and out of control. And happy-go-lucky India is drawn to one of the victims of the accident, causing long-buried secrets to rise to the surface.

This is a novel about the startling and unexpected turns life can take. It’s about luck – good and bad – and about finding bravery and resilience when your world is in turmoil. Above all, it’s about friendship, togetherness and hope.

My Thoughts:

This is a book full of emotion and it really makes you think what you are grateful for. The story is about four very brave ladies who all going through real life situations. Two of the women really struck a chord with me as I have been through something similar but not exactly the same and I really felt for Eve as you don’t really think about health scares until you or someone you know has one then it comes flooding back to you. It is an emotional read but one that you just realise how close your friends and family can be.

Isn’t it about time we talked about YOU?

Tessa, Sandra and Harriet have been best friends through first crushes, careers, marriage and the trials of motherhood. After twenty years of taking care of everyone else’s every need, they’ve found themselves hitting the big 5-0 and suddenly asking themselves: ‘what about me?!’

Sandra has a sordid secret, and Harriet is landed with her ailing mother-in-law. Tessa is looking for something to fill the gaping hole left by her youngest daughter’s departure for uni, where it seems she’s now engaged in all sorts of unsavoury activities, if Tessa’s obsessive late-night Facebook stalking is anything to go by.

When Tessa impulsively responds to an online message from an old flame, she soon finds herself waiting at Heathrow Airport for The One That Got Away.

But what will the plane from New York bring her? The man of her dreams, or a whole heap of trouble?

And could this be the long-awaited moment for Tessa to seize her life, for herself, with both hands?

My Thoughts:

This is the story of three women who are best friends. You get to find out about each women and their lives they are all different women but it is lovely to see how close they are and how they help each other out. I don’t necessarily agree with what they do with their lives whilst the husband is away the cat will play but I can kind of see where they were coming from as it was like the husbands needed a shove in the right direction. There are a few funny moments that bring this book to life.

While working hard on a career as a fashion designer to the stars, and forging a name for herself, Victoria Davies is content and comfortable with her life – a life that includes her handsome rock star husband and their crazy – yet loveable – children. Having moved on with her life from a troubled relationship, best friend Melanie is safe and secure with marriage and motherhood, and making the most of her creative career.

Despite her best efforts, she struggles with her demons – mostly ex-husband Kevin. When a face from the past resurfaces to tear apart what should be their exciting and happy times, and shake their worlds – it sets in motion a chain of events with disastrous and deadly consequences. Follow the two best friends as they battle to keep the lives they have built for themselves intact, and hold onto those that they love.

My Thoughts:

I was given a copy of this book for an honest review. Having read Deceitful Desires which is the first book I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the second book. I loved the characters in this book, the way the story is set out and how the story unfolds is brilliant. I love the fact that it is all about two best friends and how they cope with certain things in their life. Exciting and emotional this book is a definite read for this year. I look forward to the next book.
