When Rachel meets Luc, the attraction is instant. But she is a doctor, and he is her patient. She gives him the drugs he needs – but in doing so, risks everything. And when a secret is exposed, they’re both in the firing line. Not all patients are telling the truth.
My Thoughts:
I loved the sound of this book, it sounded intriguing and suspenseful, but for me it was not as good as I thought it would be. The first part of the story was good as it was gripping, trying to find out what would happen but then it became very long and drawn out and I wanted to read it quickly just to finish it. I think the ending let it down too. It was such a shame as I was really looking forward to reading it.

Lizzy Munro is working at the Cannes Film Festival, in a job that involves a lot more admin than red-carpet glamour.
There, Ciaran Flynn is the man everyone is talking about: heartthrob of the moment and director of the most romantic movie of the year.
What nobody knows is that twelve years ago, they were best friends . . . and they haven’t spoken since.
But when Ciaran’s film runs into trouble, there’s only one person he can turn to.
Is twelve days enough to save not only Ciaran’s film, but also the spark he and Lizzy once shared?
My Thoughts:
This is such a lovely debut novel, about finding a spark again. Ciaran and Lizzy were best friends a long time ago but haven’t seen or spoken to each other since, they both have their own lives to lead now, but when a chance encounter brings them together can they share how they feel about each other now they are back in each other lives. It was warm and full of joy and I felt as though I warmed to Lizzy a lot and I feel as though both characters are relatable. It was a really enjoyable read, I kind of guessed where the ending might go and was right but still it was such a sweet story. I cannot wait to read Niamh’s books in the future as I reckon they will be a big hit.

Detective Jonah Sheens is enjoying a moment of peace and quiet, when a teenage girl wanders out of the woods.
She’s striking, with flame-red hair and a pale complexion.
She’s also covered in blood.
Jonah quickly discovers that Keely and her sister, Nina, disappeared from a children’s home a week ago. Now, Keely is here – but Nina’s still missing.
Keely likes to play games. She knows where her sister is – but before she tells, she wants Jonah’s full attention.
Is she killer, witness, or victim?
And will Jonah find out what Keely’s hiding, in time to save Nina?
My Thoughts:
I found this was a great paced thriller that kept me on my toes not really sure where each page was going to lead me and also what I would discover. It is a creepy story but a really good one that I did not want to put down. It was very hard to try and find out who was telling the truth and who wasn’t but I like a challenge but still did not work it out. I feel as though I need to read more by Gytha now and I cannot wait as this was brilliant and well thought out plot. I liked when Keely was telling her story as I was not sure if she was making it up or not and was trying to work out what her motive is, I was thinking about this book when I was not reading it. Even the front cover is creepy.

It’s 2010. Staggeringly successful and brilliant tech entrepreneur Bix Bouton is desperate for a new idea. He’s forty, with four kids, and restless when he stumbles into a conversation with mostly Columbia professors, one of whom is experimenting with downloading or “externalising” memory. Within a decade, Bix’s new technology, Own Your Unconscious–that allows you access to every memory you’ve ever had, and to share every memory in exchange for access to the memories of others–has seduced multitudes. But not everyone.
In spellbinding linked narratives, Egan spins out the consequences of Own Your Unconscious through the lives of multiple characters whose paths intersect over several decades. Intellectually dazzling and extraordinarily moving, The Candy House is a bold, brilliant imagining of a world that is moments away. With a focus on social media, gaming, and alternate worlds, you can almost experience moving among dimensions in a role-playing game. Egan takes her “deeply intuitive forays into the darker aspects of our technology-driven, image-saturated culture” (Vogue) to stunning new heights and delivers a fierce and exhilarating testament to the tenacity and transcendence of human longing for real connection, love, family, privacy and redemption.
My Thoughts: I thought this book sounded intriguing so thought I would give it a read, it was a great idea for a story but for me I think I was a little let down, maybe I was not in the right head space to read it and needed more quiet time to concentrate on it. I found it heavy going but persisted and to be honest I enjoyed the ending, It shows of a future we could all have and that in itself is terrifying enough.

Sometimes the best things in life happen when you dare to get out of your depth.
Abby lives and works in the heart of the Lake District. She splits her time between bringing up her daughter, working in the Plum Pie Bakery – and dreaming of the time before her husband, Ben, left.
Lori is on holiday from the States, hoping to find her way to the lake that she’s looked at for years in a picture on her wall back home.
Rebecca is contemplating taking the plunge too. Despite her immaculate appearance Rebecca is keeping quiet about a childhood trauma which has left her scared of the water.
Clarissa is the founder of The Wildwater Women. An all-year-round open-water swimming veteran, and with a fearsome manner, she knows the lakes like no one else and her boundless energy defies her years.
Four women, all from very different lives, all with reason to step into the water and wash away their past. But will the friendship they build be enough to keep them afloat when they each must face their fears?
My Thoughts:
I love books that are set in places that I have visited, especially somewhere as special as the Lake District. The book is all about four women who all have their own story to tell but find themselves bonding whilst doing wildwater swimming. It is a story about how they all can help each other through tough times, and through relatable situations. They are real women with real life problems, I loved reading about these women and how their bond grows and how they support each other through thick and thin. I am sure there are women out there who will be able to relate to at least one of these women. It was a easy story to follow and pick up and put down.

My Thoughts:
I knew as soon as I started reading the blurb that I was going to love this book and I did. It is a heart breaking and funny read and you will go through so many other emotions reading it. the headline is three women, three dates and one man, you can kind of guess what is going to happen. We meet each other women and they like many other women think they have found the perfect man but is he all he is cracked up to be? it was nice to read about the three women’s stories, I am sure their stories are relatable to a lot of women out there too. It is a story about the dating game but with a very unique twist and I just loved it. How Beth has written it, is absolutely fantastic, this is going to be a huge hit when it comes out. Readers are going to love it. I cannot wait to read Beth’s next book.

When Clay Wolfe is hired to find out who tried to steal a mouse, he thought it was akin to a fireman getting a cat out of a tree. It wasn’t. “Sometimes bad genes need to be stamped out and good ones need to be fostered,” Bridget Engel said. “There’s really no difference between mice and human beings when it comes to genes.” She wore a gray suit, and her blonde hair was cut short in the style that Hillary Clinton had made popular. When Clay Wolfe rekindles an old romance, the summer is looking bright. It wasn’t. He woke in the middle of the night, gathered his things, and slipped away. After Clay left, Victoria rose from the bed and went into the bathroom, carefully removed the condom from the Kleenex it was wrapped in and put it in a plastic baggie. Who is the mysterious man who clubs Westy with a hammer and threatens the lives of everybody Clay Wolfe holds dear? Now, Clive Miller was a fixer. He took care of problems that arose. Once given a task, his hands weren’t tied, and he was well-paid for his troubles. There were two simple rules. Eliminate the problem. Don’t draw attention.
My Thoughts:
I really enjoyed reading this book, and seeing what Clay Wolfe has been getting up to. This is the third book in the Clay Wolfe/Port Essex mystery series, I would recommend reading the other two books in the series to get to know the characters, though you can read as a standalone. In this story we see Clay and his team try to find out who stole a mouse but not just any mouse. But will Clay be able to catch the culprit or will he be the one being chased? It is a great read with a few twists, a great mystery read. Matt the author always nails the part that keep you captivated and makes you want to read quickly so that you can find out what the outcome will be. It is also set in a small Coastal town which sounds so idyllic that I would love to go there and experience it for myself. I would love to meet all the characters too as they all seem such an interesting bunch. I would highly recommend this book.

Sometimes, the differences between a man and a woman are undeniable. The clashes and misunderstandings this leads to are humorously inevitable. Follow the day-to-day challenges that men may face in this hilarious journal, explaining the realities of being a husband.
Be prepared to laugh, smile and shake your head as you read about the struggles that the male mind goes through on a daily basis. In this book, you will find a husband’s equivalent of the ten commandments – critical for any successful marriage.
Alongside this, in a comically entertaining fashion, you will become educated on the antics husbands and wives use like ‘guilt spreading’, ‘the Jewellers/lunch trick’, and you will learn the three painstaking words you never want to hear, ‘Can you just…’.
My Thoughts:
This was such a hilarious story about marriage that had my sides splitting with laughter. All of the chapters were so funny and relatable with my husband and I. He wanted to know what I was laughing about and now is reading it himself. I know when he gets to a good part as I hear him chuckling to himself. The IKEA parts had me in stitches. They always say laughter is the best medicine and this book really did cheer me up. It is a short read and I read it in an hour, I just didn’t want to finish. A cracking debut and I can’t wait to see what Marc the author has up his sleeve. I would definitely recommend reading this book or buying it for your husband or wife.

Henry Wilkens burst through the doors of the emergency room covered in his wife’s blood. But was he a grieving husband, or a ruthless killer who’d conspired with bandits to have her murdered?
To find out, the San Francisco police turned to technology, and a new machine that had just been invented in Berkeley by a rookie detective, a visionary police chief, and a teenage magician with a showman’s touch.
John Larson, Gus Vollmer and Leonarde Keeler hoped the lie detector would make the justice system fairer – but the flawed device soon grew too powerful for them to control. It poisoned their lives, turned fast friends into bitter enemies, and as it conquered America and the world, it transformed our relationship with the truth in ways that are still being felt.
As new forms of lie detection gain momentum in the present day, Tremors in the Blood reveals the incredible truth behind the creation of the polygraph, through gripping true crime cases featuring explosive gunfights, shocking twists and high-stakes courtroom drama.
My Thoughts:
I found this book very entertaining, it is packed full of interesting facts about lie detectors, from the very first one used in a murder case, this has everything you ever needed to know. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I felt as though it was not too heavy but I did need to concentrate on it otherwise I felt as though I would miss something. I love how Amit the author has written it so you feel as though you are reading a thriller rather than a history book, it is so cleverly done and Amit clearly knows his stuff. I can’t wait to read his next book and see what he is going to write about as this book just blew me away. I am now armed full of interesting things about lie detectors and how they work.

All over the world, random people are being brutally assassinated.
Each death is unique, but they all have one thing in common: four numbers branded or carved into the victims’ flesh.
What does it mean?
For the brilliant and haunted CIA analyst Quinn Mitchell, it means leaving a safe and predictable desk job as she tries to track down a global serial killer.
What she doesn’t know is that nothing about this mission – her handlers, the intelligence, even the laws of cause and effect – can be trusted.
And her target has saved his most shocking murder for last . . .
My Thoughts:
I think first off I have to say that time travel novels and science fiction are just not for me, I wanted to enjoy this book but I feel as though the plot felt very samey to other books I have read with similar plots. The characters al had their own motives and had been written well, they all worked in this story. I must admit some of the future technology sounded cool, I would not say there was anything bad with the story it is just my personal preference and I am sure loads of people will enjoy it greatly.
