Daisy’s Vintage Cornish Camper Van By Ali McNamara

Welcome to the gorgeous Cornish town of St Felix, where there’s magic in the air…

When Ana inherits a broken-down camper van from her best friend, she takes the chance for a quick trip to Cornwall – some sea air and fish and chips on the beach is just the tonic she needs.

But St Felix has bigger plans for Ana. She discovers a series of unsent postcards, dating back to the 1950s, hidden in the upholstery of the van. Ana knows that it’s a sign: she’ll make sure that the messages reach the person that they were meant for. And as the broken-down van is restored to gleaming health, so Ana begins to find her way back to happiness.

My Thoughts:

The paperback cover of this book is lovely, its really eye catching and I love the way different things on it are embossed. I loved the idea of the plot and it really took hold of me, hoping that Ana and Noah would find out what they were looking for. It has an interesting ending which puts a spin on things but it works well. Another author I will definitely have to read more of.

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Tubing By K.A.McKeagney

tubing

Polly, 28, lives in London with her ‘perfect-on-paper’ boyfriend. She works a dead end job on a free London paper… life as she knows it is dull. But her banal existence is turned upside down late one drunken night on her way home, after a chance encounter with a man on a packed tube train. The chemistry between them is electric and on impulse, they kiss, giving in to their carnal desires. But it’s over in an instant, and Polly is left shell-shocked as he walks away without even telling her his name.

Now obsessed with this beautiful stranger, Polly begins a frantic online search, and finally discovers more about tubing , an underground phenomenon in which total strangers set up illicit, silent, sexual meetings on busy commuter tube trains. In the process, she manages to track him down and he slowly lures her into his murky world, setting up encounters with different men via Twitter.

At first she thinks she can keep it separate from the rest of her life, but things soon spiral out of control.

By chance she spots him on a packed tube train with a young, pretty blonde. Seething with jealousy, she watches them together. But something isn’t right and a horrific turn of events make Polly realise not only how foolish she has been, but how much danger she is in…

Can she get out before it s too late?

My Thoughts:

I was intrigued when I heard about this book so much so that I thought I would give it a go. It is a interesting storyline that is pretty intense in a erotic way. Fans of erotic fiction will like this one. There are lots of different surprises along the way, I have not read anything like this before and I am not sure I ever will. I wonder if this really goes on underground?

Torn between wishing she could remember and afraid of losing what she now has, Gracie starts to wonder: if you had your time over, would you live the same life twice?

My Thoughts:

Reading the blurb of this book I was interested to see how this book would pan out and I when I finished it I was surprised by the ending, it was a really good read where it makes you think about if you had a second chance would you live you live the same. I really felt for Gracie and found myself hoping for the best for her. I love gardening and planting and it was really interesting reading about Summerhill, I could almost smell those wonderful flowers. I did pick up some tips along the way too. A perfect holiday read.

I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review. I also received a beautifully made wooden book box with some lavender oil, lavender bath bomb and some seeds. Thanks to Sabah Khan at Harper Collins for sending them to me.

Why Mummy Swears By Gill Sims

Why Mummy Swears By Gill Sims

why mummy swears

This title will be released on July 12, 2018.

Why Mummy Swears is the much anticipated new novel from Gill Sims, author of the hilarious Why Mummy Drinks and online sensation Peter and Jane.

It’s every parents’ nightmare – the start of the school holidays – and instead of sitting in the sun, reading a book over a cold, crisp glass of Pinot Grigio, Mummy has two bored moppets to attend to. After frantically booking sports camps, child minder slots, not to mention time off work, Mummy is exhausted. But this is only the beginning…

After being dragged to join the school’s PTA in the new term by an annoyingly kind-spirited neighbour, Mummy is stuck with organising the Christmas Fayre and pleasing all the overly disapproving parents. In combination with getting to know her father’s surprise new glamorous (and much younger) wife, and being forced to spend more time with her narcissistic mother, life isn’t cutting her much of a break. What more could possibly happen?

My Thoughts:

This is a seriously laugh out loud a minute book. It had me in stitches, even if your not a mum you are sure to relate like I did. I am yet to read why mummy drinks but I certainly want to read it. I love the relationship that mummy has with her husband, my husband is certainly nowhere near as bad as this one was but there are certain traits that seem familiar. A really funny book that will have you in stitches.

I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review. I also received a swear jar. I think my husband would put it to better use than me. hehe!!

Let Me Lie By Clare Mackintosh

Let Me Lie By Clare Mackintosh

let me lie

The police say it was suicide.
Anna says it was murder.
They’re both wrong.

One year ago, Caroline Johnson chose to end her life brutally: a shocking suicide planned to match that of her husband just months before. Their daughter, Anna, has struggled to come to terms with their loss ever since.
Now with a young baby of her own, Anna misses her mother more than ever and starts to ask questions about her parents’ deaths. But by digging up the past, is she putting her future in danger? Sometimes it’s safer to let things lie . . .

My Thoughts:

If you want a brilliant psychological thriller that has twists and turns at every corner, then this is the book for you. I found I didn’t want to put it down yet I didn’t want it to end. I love it when a book captures you and you can’t think about anything else.It feels as though Clare might of left it open for another book. Each chapter is a different person’s perspective. Its a brilliant read.

You, Me, Everything By Catherine Issac

You, Me, Everything By Catherine Issac

catherine

Jess and her ten-year-old son William set off to spend the summer at Château de Roussignol, deep in the rich, sunlit hills of the Dordogne. There, Jess’s ex-boyfriend and William’s father, Adam, runs a beautiful hotel in a restored castle.

Jess is bowled over by what Adam has accomplished, but she’s in France for a much more urgent reason: to make Adam connect with his own son. Jess can’t allow Adam to let their son down because she is tormented by a secret of her own, one that nobody – especially William – must discover.

By turns life-affirming, heart-wrenching and joyful, You Me Everything is a novel about one woman’s fierce determination to grab hold of the family she has and never let go, and a romantic story as heady as a crisp Sancerre on a summer day.

I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.

My Thoughts:

This is going to be a big Summer hit. It has everything you could want to make it perfect, great characters, a bit of a tear jerker and the beautiful descriptive writing so much so you can feel the warmth of the French sun on your back. It is such a special book and I think I will cherish it forever. I think what I learnt from it is that we will definitely go to the ends of earth to help the ones we love. I read it in a few days and now I want to read it again.

Lying In Wait By Liz Nugent

Lying In Wait By Liz Nugent

Lydia Fitzsimons lives in the perfect house with her adoring husband and beloved son. There is just one thing Lydia craves to make her life complete, and she is determined that her husband will get it for her. The last thing she expects is that her obsession will lead to murder.

However, not even a dead body can stop Lydia in her tracks. If anything, it makes her more determined to get her own way – whatever the cost…

My Thoughts:

If you want to read a book that will leave you utterly speechless this is the one for you. It is so twisted and the suspense is unreal that you will want to finish it in a day. The chapters are all from the different characters perspective. This is the second book I have read by Liz and will not be my last. Liz is becoming my favourite new author for sure. I love a book that makes you think wow, and this book really did.

Secrets We Keep By Faith Hogan

Secrets We Keep By Faith Hogan

faith

Some people are good at keeping secrets but some secrets are never meant to be kept…

Two distant relatives are drawn together and forced to confront their pasts. A bittersweet story for fans of Patricia Scanlan and Adele Parks.

The beautiful old Bath House in Ballytokeep has lain empty and abandoned for decades. For devoted pensioners Archie and Iris, it holds too many conflicting memories of their adolescent dalliances and tragic consequences – sometimes it’s better to leave the past where it belongs.

For highflying, top London divorce lawyer Kate Hunt, it’s a fresh start – maybe even her future. On a winter visit to see her estranged Aunt Iris she falls in love with the Bath House. Inspired, she moves to Ballytokeep leaving her past heartache 600 miles away – but can you ever escape your past or your destiny?

My Thoughts:

I found this a nice little cosy read, one that kept me guessing until the end. There are a few twists and turns which kept my attention. I found the scene was set really well and the story was mysterious so when I wasn’t reading I was thinking about what might happen next. An excellent read from a new author to me.

I love how each chapter is a song title it made it feel more personal and if you really want to immerse yourself you can play each song too which I did. This is a lovely story about second chances and I found it touching and funny in parts.
