It was a perfect relationship until time pulled them apart. A beautiful story sensitively told about how love and friendship can conquer everything, including time, to a point.
“The Days of Our Birth” delves into the intricate bond between Peter and Sarah as they navigate their formative years. Spanning from their sixth birthday through two decades, the narrative unfolds against the backdrop of Sarah’s placement on the autism spectrum. With a blend of humour and poignancy, the book intricately weaves together themes of love and friendship, unravelling the tale of two individuals who grapple with their emotions for each other, even though they remain unacknowledged.

My Thoughts:

I have always loved Charlie’s books and this was just as good as his previous books. This is a republished book but if you can get a copy you will not be disappointed. Peter and Sarah have known each other for over twenty years, this story goes back in time and then to the present to see what the outcome of their lives have become. The story cleverly switches between the different poignant events that happen to each of them. But also it shows the viewpoints from each of them which really worked well into the story. There are sensitive issues raised but Charlie has done a great job to keep things sensitive and real. Relatable subjects too. I liked both characters and the whole story was to show how deep a friendship really can be, you would do anything for the other person. I loved it.
