Sadie loves her daughter and will do anything to keep her safe.
She can’t tell her why they had to leave home so quickly – or why Robin’s father won’t be coming with them to London.
She can’t tell her why she hates being back in her dead mother’s house, with its ivy-covered walls and its poisonous memories.
And she can’t tell her the truth about the school Robin’s set to start at – a school that doesn’t welcome newcomers.
Sadie just wants to get their lives back on track.
My Thoughts:
I had previously read Harriet’s first novel called Blood Orange and really enjoyed it, this was a really good read too. The anticipation about what was going to happen was next level. I could feel my heart thumping against my chest in some parts. Sadie and her daughter Robin are very close and when she has to come back to live in London, they both are not happy to be back, Robin doesn’t want to go to the school as they aren’t very nice to her but it doesn’t just stop at her they target Sadie too. Sadie has kept a lot of secrets from her daughter only to protect her but will the secrets finally come out? There is a lot of suspense in this story and you never really know where the story is going to go. I think the last half let the story down a little as for me it was a little slow.
