Our Song By Dani Atkins

Our Song By Dani Atkins

This title will be released on January 14, 2016.

This is the story of Ally and Charlotte, whose paths have intersected over the years though they’ve never really been close friends. Charlotte married Ally’s ex and first true love, David. Fate is about to bring them together one last, dramatic time and change their lives forever.

Full of Dani’s signature warmth and emotion, this is a gripping and emotional family drama. With breath-taking plot twists, Dani explores themes of serendipity, friendship and love. She fully engages the reader in the dilemmas faced by her characters. What would you do if your husband was the love of somebody else’s life? And when faced with an agonising decision, could you put the past behind you and do the right thing?

My Thoughts:

I would like to say a big thank you to lovereading for sending me an advanced copy of this book. I want to say wow what a book, it has every kind of emotion you can think of I felt as if I was on an emotional roller coaster. There are four main characters called Ally, Charlotte and their husband’s called David and Joe. Fate brings them all together in a very dramatic and heart stopping moment. You find out all about their pasts, the present and what will happen to all of them in the future. I did shed a few tears near the end but I think most people who read this book would. An author I would definitely recommend and read again.

The Lost Girl By Liz Harris

The Lost Girl By Liz Harris

What if you were trapped between two cultures?
Life is tough in 1870s Wyoming. But it’s tougher still when you’re a girl who looks Chinese but speaks like an American.

Orphaned as a baby and taken in by an American family, Charity Walker knows this only too well. The mounting tensions between the new Chinese immigrants and the locals in the mining town of Carter see her shunned by both communities.

When Charity’s one friend, Joe, leaves town, she finds herself isolated. However, in his absence, a new friendship with the only other Chinese girl in Carter makes her feel like she finally belongs somewhere.

But, for a lost girl like Charity, finding a place to call home was never going to be that easy …

My Thoughts:

This is such an interesting story that is set in Wyoming in the 1870’s, you get to see how life is really like then. It is about two people that love each other but are from different cultures and at a time of racial unrest. There is obviously lots of research carried out as it is well detailed. I really felt that this was much more than a book as I really did learn some things I never even knew.

But they’re not the only ones looking for Janus. And others will go to desperate lengths – and use brutal tactics – to make sure they find him first…

My Thoughts:

I had never heard of Anders De La Motte before so was keen to give this book a go, I was given this book for an honest review. This is a thriller that is really fast paced, there are lots of different characters which I did find hard to work out who was who. I did get quite confused at many points in the story but I did finish this book and I did enjoy the ending. There are lots of twists and turns but I would say don’t give up on it as the ending is perfect for a thriller.

My Thoughts:

I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of this book from lovereading, I want to say thank you as I really enjoyed this book. I was hooked from the first chapter, it is a bit gruesome but the detail in the story is so brilliant, I couldn’t stop reading. Reading about all the characters gives you a much better insight into their lives and there is so much description, the author must of done lots of research. I am going to read another of Alex Barclay’s books as I really did enjoy this one.

Living in the Shadows By Judith Barrow

Sequel to the acclaimed Changing Patterns and Pattern of Shadows. It’s 1969 and Mary Schormann is living quietly in Wales with her ex-POW husband, Peter, and her teenage twins, Richard and Victoria. Her niece, Linda Booth, is a nurse – following in Mary’s footsteps – and works in the maternity ward of her local hospital in Lancashire.

At the end of a long night shift, a bullying new father visits the maternity ward and brings back Linda’s darkest nightmares, her terror of being locked in. Who is this man, and why does he scare her so? There are secrets dating back to the war that still haunt the family, and finding out what lies at their root might be the only way Linda can escape their murderous consequences.

My Thoughts:

I have not read the two previous books in this series so I went into the story not knowing much. I love the era it is set in all the mini skirts and vespas, it is written with lots of lovely descriptions, I couldn’t put the book down. The story follows a large family who see tragedy, trials and tribulations. I definitely want to read the previous two books now.

The Chocolate Lover’s Christmas By Carole Matthews

The Chocolate Lover’s Christmas By Carole Matthews

Christmas is just around the corner but the women of The Chocolate Lovers’ Club have more to worry about than present shopping . . .

Lucy loves running Chocolate Heaven but she hasn’t spent time with her boyfriend, Aiden, in weeks. And then her ex-fiance turns up and things become even more complicated.

Nadia hasn’t let herself get close to a man in a long time, yet she can’t help feeling drawn to Jacob. Will he be her last chance for a happy ending?

Chantal and her husband, Ted, are besotted with their baby daughter Lana – but she’s not sure that’s enough to base a marriage on.

Autumn is dealing with a tragedy that has hit too close to home. But when she doesn’t get the support she needs from her fiance, will she look elsewhere for comfort?

Can friendship overcome all in . . . The Chocolate Lovers’ Christmas.

My Thoughts:

All of Carole Matthews books are brilliant, this one was brilliant too. It follows on from Carole’s previous books called ‘The Chocolate Lover’s Club’ and then the second book is called ‘The Chocolate Lover’s diet. I loved catching up with the women from the other two books I feel like I am part of the gang and I wish I was as I could more than happily eat chocolate every day especially in a crisis. I would love to have Lucy’s job but I don’t think much chocolate or cake would be left for the customers as I would probably have eaten it all. A fabulous read that will leave you wanting more. I look forward to the next book.

A Wedding At Christmas By Chrissie Manby

A Wedding At Christmas By Chrissie Manby

This title will be released on November 19, 2015.

What comes to mind when you picture a wedding at Christmas? A gorgeous white dress accessorised with a thick velvet cape… bridesmaids in red velvet too? An arch of Christmas greenery: holly and ivy and boughs of fir. Candles and fairy lights. Snow!

Chelsea Benson has just twelve weeks to organise her perfect winter wedding. Her family and friends pitch in to help, but sisterly squabbling, issues with money and an Ice-Queen mother-in-law soon threaten Chelsea’s plans for her big day. And that’s without the firework fiasco…

Rescuing Chelsea’s dream of a proper family wedding might just take all the magic of Christmas..

My Thoughts:

I loved catching up with the Benson family again, there are lots of laughs in this book but also some sad times. I felt rather Christmassy reading this book as it is now not too long till Christmas, I loved the fact the story centred around Chelsea and how she has to cope with his family and his late wife’s family, I did really feel for her at some points. I love Jack and Lily’s relationship and how much mischief they can get in to when they are together. All in all a brilliant Christmas read.
